This exhibition focuses on more than 200 pieces (sets) of musical themed cultural relics, including the bone flute unearthed from the Neolithic cultural site in Jiahu, Wuyang, Henan, the jiuxiaohuanpeiqin of the Tang Dynasty, and the twelve flute of the Qing Dynasty. Treasures, which systematically reflect the development context of ancient Chinese music, and demonstrate the unique charm of Chinese excellent traditional music art.
Music comes from life, is born out of the social and economic foundation of the times, reflects the spiritual value orientation of the times, and plays an important role in promoting the development of civilization, promoting exchanges and mutual learning, and enhancing spiritual and cultural life. As a material medium for expressing music and practicing music activities, the history of musical instruments is itself a materialized music history.
In the ruins of early Chinese civilization, there are wind instruments represented by flutes and whistles, and percussion instruments represented by bells and drums. From the pre-Qin to the Han dynasty, with the establishment and development of the ritual and music system, musical instruments became more complicated, and large-scale musical instruments such as chimes and chimes appeared; stringed musical instruments represented by the qin and si also became an important part of the spiritual and cultural life of literati.
From the Wei and Jin Dynasties to the Sui and Tang Dynasties, foreign musical instruments were widely used in performance occasions, and the prosperous scene of "Huqin, Pipa and Qiang Di" appeared. During the Song and Yuan Dynasties, the use and improvement of musical instruments reached a new peak, and the status of bowed stringed instruments was formally established. Art styles such as opera, song and dance, and rap in the Ming and Qing Dynasties became more prosperous, shaping vivid and colorful folk art achievements.
