The UN climate summit in Dubai has wrapped up its latest conference with a deal to move away from fossil fuels. A last-minute agreement hammered out in the final hours of Cop28, for the first time, includes the issue of fossil fuels in dealing with climate change. Talks were derailed by an earlier draft calling for a rapid phase-out of energy sources such as oil, petrol and natural gas. But when a compromise was reached, it paved the way for countries to transition away from the fuel that causes global warming.

I say, enjoy what you can, while you still can; pity the generations to come.

It's not going help unless the top economical countries pay for the renewable energy infrastructure from their own pockets as compensation to developing & least developed countries, as this very countries are heavily guilty for the current climate situation while pressuring weak economical countries to struggle because of their unreasonable condition while not compensating those countries.

The transition really should begin now because global oil and gas reserves will only last for 50 years and 110 years more for coal. The world needs more renewable energy to power homes, industries, transportation and others.

I doubt even the europeans to have the backbone to stand up and turn away from their fossil oil lobbyist though, it doesnt matter if they wanted to pick a stronger word or not. At least everybody kind of agree that the era of fossil fuel is going to end somewhere in the future.
