Ki Porra Only thing I can say is get the S2 if you want to use Traktor and get the SR if you want to use Serato. Choose the software first, then the controller. They are both Excellent and compact and will get the job done...

+BazzoMusic I don't think they are equivalent really. The S2 MK2 is more professional in feel and finish while the DDJ-SB2 is more of an entry-level controller. I would compare the DDJ-SR to the S2 MK2 as they are a bit more evenly matched. The DDJ-SB2 is better if you want to use Serato, but the S2 MK2 is the best if you want to use Traktor...

That's a good direction to go. The Traktor MK2 has more features than the SB, but if you do want to stay with Serato and want more features, you can also look at the DDJ-SR. I like the S2MK2 and the SR just about equally, but the S2 is better for Traktor and the SR is better for Serato DJ (full version instead of intro).

You'd need to map the pitch knob to a physical knob on the controller, (most likely one of the FX knobs)

***** okay thanks for the answer i still dont see the use for it as i can just find a point in the track and make a 4 bar loop or whatever and click play if i need a continues beat. cue must only be good for mixing in single words or whatever in a faster tway than looping or play/pause. I duno i jus found my own way around it i guess :P

Yup, that's what I thought but for some reason, even with the mic gain turned all the way down, I get feedback when the announcer (for an MMA fight I played for recently), when he uses my wireless mic. I'll upgrade to the MK2 so that I can use an iPad in place of a PC, and will see if I have the same problem or not. Thanks again man. Great review!

It's been so long that I've used this, so I don't quite remember exactly. I think you can launch remix decks with this on decks 3 and 4 but I don't remember seeing a way to control them on the actual device volume-wise. I am pretty sure you can launch another deck, but not sure on the control. The S4 can definitely control each additional line that you need with ease...

This works with Traktor Pro 2/3 or Virtual DJ. You have to buy Virtual DJ separate.

From what I've heard, the sound cards in the same generation (all mk1 or mk2) will share the same components across the board. Also you can choose your soundcard output in traktor, you're not stuck to the built in soundcard.

Traktor DJ will only play Traktor DJ files... It doesn't link to other apps...

iegoldie No... this works with Traktor DJ on the app only...

StarlightProDJ926 You can run passive speakers with this, but you would also need an amp of course... Even if you use a mixer, you still need an amp regardless.

we have an amp just wanted to know does it have 1/4 in puts for two passive speakers cause we dont use banana 1/4 cables instead we use 1/4 1/4

+Dan Campbell It will definitely give you more Stems and Remix deck control if you are going to DJ that way. If you aren't going to use Stems and Remix decks, then the F1 is pointless. The D2 is probably the better accessory to use with the controllers now...

Doesn't have an issue when I'm scratching with time code on Z2 and STR8 with 1ms buffer.

Thanks! I would choose the Traktor Kontrol S2 MK2 for the a DJ who wants to spin using Traktor. It's the most current and the one that will work the best with Traktor... Plus it comes with the software you need already...

cheers :) , im just actually just looking at your review on the stanton djc 4 which i can actually get errmm excuse my ignorance but about hundred pound difference , cheaper me not sure of the exchange rate im sorry :) xx but thats seriously looks a nice pice of kit plus it says you can get full traktor pro mappin from the stanton site , i like stanton anyway and that is one very big concideration especially the price n plus the extra of mappin a stanton turn table ..... it seems abit of a none brainer really but iv never used the traktor s2 and dont know how ccompitable the stanton would be with traktor pro ... its a bumer if you can excuse my language but its alot of money too throw away on a whim .... p.s . cheers for the quick reply ... you actually chatted n reply quicler than my mates ;) x cheers anyway x like i say any advice is brilliant and the plus points with the djc4 price and i can link ... hopefully my turntable threw its just made it a seriously hard choice .. much appreciated though and thumbs up to all the work you do i could say im a little envious but :) , but thank you and hope to hear again soon:) ...richy

TRKYDICKINSON If you are planning on using Traktor as the software of choice, then no other DJ controller will work as well with Traktor as a Native Instruments controller. The jog wheels and everything else will be much better with lower latency than with any other brand. The S2 MK2 is worth the extra 100 or even 200 pound...

+revenor You can change the toggle of the gain/filter knob in the Traktor S2 Options under Preferences and S2. Its in the menus. To pre-listen on any DJ controller, just connect your headphones and press the CUE button for the channel you want to pre-listen to. Then turn up the CUE volume of the headphones so you can hear it.

+revenor I believe you can just double click the track in traktor to play it... If not, then you have to put it on a deck to listen to, but you can do that without a DJ controller connected... Just hit the play button after the track is loaded.

Yes it is directly plug and play if you have the 30-Pin connector. If you are using the new Light connector, then you will need some type of adapter.

+SmallFish616 It may not be setup correctly. Make sure the Traktor S2 is selected from the Drop down menus in the controller manager and in the input/output sections in preferences.

i got the s2 as i felt the extra money wasnt worth the extra features in the s4. thats my opinion anyways

The main difference is that the S4 has two inputs, so you can plug two CDJ's or turntables into it, the S2 doesn't have this
