the fact that MATO recently stepped up, shows that there has been far too much expecting the USA to step up and save NATO for far too long. 1. Russia is a formidable long term aggressor and we NEED to all be at optimum to have a chance to win. 2. NATO and everyone were NOT READY for this war. Some of that was because we all delided oirselves that capitalism in russia would make them civilized. But definitely if all NATO European members had been cinvesting each in their own NATO-RELATED DEVELOPMENT over the last 40 years like they are today, Ukraine woukd have weathered the 60billion dollar wait much better! Everyone likes to think that the USA is an unlimited supply of a lot of things, and no country is. NATO is a longterm investment, and its bitterly disappointing to contemplate the lost opportunity that years of not optimally investing represents. Stepping up now is better than not addressing tge problem at all, but sheesh, i dont feel very allied with the lost opportunity.
