Amazing photos... thanks for sharing...I upgraded to D500 from D7100 & love results even though I still love my D7100 as backup...I don't have a super telephoto lens but enjoy results from my 70-300mm lens... cheers from Australia 😀

Hello Robert and thanks for taking the time to comment. The D500 is a very special camera, I'm surprised Nikon discontinued it in February but I think that they may have plans for a mirrorless version which would be very interesting. Stay well out there in Oz.

Hi, Gary. I'm an Englishman now living in southern Sweden. I bought the Nikon D500/200-500 combination in the late summer and I'm still getting used to it. I managed a few cracking shots of common redstart, lesser whitethroat, common whitethroat, pied and spotted flycatchers in my garden, when there was still a lot of light around in the autumn. I also obtained some decent shots of numerous raptor species at Falsterbo during the autumn migration. I still need a lot of practice, however, before I match your high standards. I'm looking forward to the spring breeding season to get much more practice and improve my skills further. Thanks for a wonderful video that is full of inspiration.

Hi Alan, many thanks for watching and for the very kind words. You have a wonderful set up and with time, patience and a yearning to learn you will soon be taking your imaging to another level. That 200-500 is also a spectacular macro lens albeit that the minimum focusing distance is quite long. I get some great close ups with my 200-500. Best wishes to you and keep snapping, there is nothing like being out there in the wild and getting to know your subject which is also a must if you want top class images.

Superb imaging, sir. Just bought a D500 myself recently, even after being introduced over 5 years ago. An upgrade from my old D7000. Love it so far. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing.

We don't have nikons, but looks like farely good cameras. But also I envy your patience to wait for these nice shots. They don't wait for you, you have to go and stay still to see enough. I think, the duckling babies where my favourites. They are just so cute, so cute!!! I will come/stick around for more. See you very, very soon!

wonderful video. I absolutely love the shots that are produced by that camera and you nailed loads of cool, interesting, artful stuff there. I wish I still had a d500.

Many thanks Peter, I love my D500 and my Nikon long lenses, I am considering the mirrorless Z9 but I'm waiting to see how others get on with it for now. Happy new year, stay well.

This guy takes great shots, its not all about the camera, skill also plays an important role but the D500 is a nice wildlife DSLR.

It's a great camera but, you still need to know how to use it to get the best from it. It's the same with any tool of any trade. Thanks for commenting and stay well

Beautiful pictures. Well done. Can't wait until I can afford a big zoom. I have a D500 as well. Love it. One question though, do you shoot single point autofocus? I can't quite decide what's best for birds in flight.
@wildlifesnapper1
@wildlifesnapper1 2 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks, yes I try to shoot single point AF and if possible get the eye of the animal as that's the most important aspect in EVERY wildlife shot. Sometimes when animals are moving or in flight though this can be difficult to acquire and it is then that I resort to a 4 point AF selection via one of the rear Fn buttons on the D500, this is not a guaranteed winner though but has a better hit rate than a single AF point.

@@wildlifesnapper1 I've been doing something similar, actually maybe the reverse of that. Ok. So i'm not that far off. Thank you. I appreciate the reply. I look forward to seeing more of your photos.

supurb. How do you compare Nikon D500 with Nikon Z6 ii
@wildlifesnapper1
@wildlifesnapper1 2 жыл бұрын
It would difficult to give an honest answer as I've never used a Z6 but what I will say is that the D500 was aimed squarely at wildlife photographers, the Z6 however is not and on that premise alone I won't be changing my D500 for a Z6.

What settings do you use for bif?
@wildlifesnapper1
@wildlifesnapper1 2 жыл бұрын
I always shoot in manual, I keep shutter speeds at about 1250th of a sec for slow flying birds, Buzzards, Egrets, etc but above 2500th sec for fast birds like Falcons. I adjust ISO accordingly but won't shoot above ISO 2500 on my D500 and try and keep it to below 1000 in honesty. Depending on the lens I usually stop down 1 stop from the max aperture, so, if its a 500 f/4 then I close down to f/5.6 or if its a 400 f/2.8 then I close to f/4. Hope this helps. Stay well
