This video shows more construction and how we completed certain tasks. It is nearly 26 minutes long. It is interesting if you want to see the bones of the project. This video shows how we built a natural swimming pool. A pool filtered by plants. A chlorine-free living, breathing retreat from the world in our backyard. The project depicted physically started in February 2022, and we finished this video in October 2022. The goal is to be completed by April 2023 and ready by Memorial Day.

Hey there! LOVE your project! I have one question. How did you keep the timber walls from floating? I saw you mention something about supporting it at the corners but I didn’t understand what you meant. I’m looking to install an underwater timber retaining wall for my pond to separate the zones but I’m struggling to understand how to anchor the walls and keep them from floating. Thank you so much!

Hi Tyler- Because we had filtration biozones filled with stone, we could use some dead men and then backfill with filtration stone on top. On the inside corners of the pool's backside, we used 45-degree braces that allowed the stone weight to hold the wall down at some of the corners. Also, at the corners, we did not cut the timbers flush we allowed them to overrun into the biozone, helping to hold them down when backfilled. I have attached the construction video link; at around 12 minutes in, you will see the dead men and the 45-degree angles cut, strengthening the wall and allowing stone to hold it down. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y5ichc-qybqXd4U.html Oh, and thanks for the compliments I do appreciate them.

Natural, as in the pool is filtered without chemicals. Organic is not a word in my vocabulary, and I have never described it as such. Thanks for looking at my inorganic design.

In your next video would you mind videoing yourself while you walk around and describe how the water flow works? I have intentions of building a natural pool as well. Did you utilize any contractors or architects?

Clayton, thanks for the comments. I did use a concrete contractor friend who poured the retaining wall and pool house foundation. I also used a landscape architect to ensure my design, elevations, and pool house would work together. Conservation Technology will help design the sizing of the filter system and biozone if you purchase the components of the system from them. I did the excavation, pond construction, pool house construction planting, and everything else except the liner. My son-in-law did a fantastic job with that installation. He does industrial liner work for a living.

Is the wood pressure treated ? Will last 10 plus years ? I want to use as well Thank you

You don't need to use PT wood. If you keep the wood submerged, it will last decades. Shipwrecks centuries old are found, and the wood is still intact. Wood piers and bulkheads rot at the water line where the oxygen and water meet. Go to your local mill and have them cut what you need. Skip the pressure treatment.
