As the heat rises so do the thunderheads.
Thunder is heard in the distance...
Soon lightning will be spidering across the sky.
Luke stands watching the storms moving his direction.....there is No Where to Run Now....he's in for a wild night.

It’s not only Motorcycles, life can be filled with unexpected tragedies. Motorcycle camping and just cruising the backroads is very good therapy. I tried to mitigate the possibility of accidents by riding safely with a motto, “live to ride again tomorrow “. In the end it all comes down to risk reward tolerance.
@MikeB-gy3qb

Hello Dean, I agree riding is great therapy, I have been riding for over 45 years both street and dirt bikes. In the dirt I had only 1 mishap and walked away, however these days some places like Pismo and other spots are death traps. The street is just as fun with the twisties, coast rides, and long stretches can be great. But most of the time the other guy doesn't see you. I just lost a work associate was hit and killed on the way to work. When I ride, I always have my sidearm I live in Arizona.

I worked in an ER for 10 years and saw my fair share of MVA's which included both cars and motorcycle accidents. Sorry to say that a higher incidence of Motorcycle accidents ended in death or severe disability than car accidents. That is just a medical fact. It has do with riding in a car a person has more protection around their body. A motorcyclist just does not have that same protection--even with a helmet. Whatever speed they are traveling, plus the speed of whatever vehicle hits them--it is this combined speed their body then travels until it hits a solid object. This combined speed is nearly 100 percent fatal. Then our ER was located off three major interstate highways--we saw mostly highspeed crashes too. A few city street crashes, but mainly high speed crashes is what we saw. While I think motorcycles are cool, I myself would not ride on one on the highway. Maybe on a city street with a helmet, and I have and it was fun. NOT on the interstate, no thanks!

Joe and his family are Canadian. They have been a joy to watch as they build their lives. It is a tragedy that he had this accident. I often wonder why, when you know rain, especially thunderstorms, in the area are likely, that you don't bring a large enough tarp to put the tent under to double your protection. It seems counter intuitive to subject the opening for the tent to be exposed directly to the elements since you brought the tarp.

"Totally soaked in sweat." I just did 36 miles "up and down" constantly. Being able to find and purify water and being hydrated were of extreme importance. The thunderstorm was a blessing. The feeling of making it home "priceless." Mabye, an E-bike camping trip instead of a motorcycle would be better. Some Ebikes can get 60-100 mile range on battery assistance. The "E-cells" brand has a duel battery bike called the duel star and more offroad suitable bikes, not cheap.

I was curious about what to do if I'm tent camping during an electrical storm. There is really good safety info out there about it; I recommend everyone read it and decide for themselves... but the last thing I want after reading many safety articles is a metal center pole. While metal does not attract lightning, contrary to popular beliefs, if it does hit, it needs to go to ground. I'm thinking poles on the outside perimeter would be better than being that close to the center pole. But that's just me. Actually, jumping into my vehicle would be the safest! 🤣

This post reminds me of my last camping trip where I used my Asmoke grill for the first time. It completely transformed my outdoor cooking experience. I used to be a Traeger+ user, but the consistent temperature control and the added flavor of the wood pellets that Asmoke provides has won me over. I love the convenience of the digital controller and how I can set and maintain my cooking temperature, providing precise control over the grilling process. The fact that it's battery-powered and portable makes it a game-changer for camping trips. Also, the Asmoke app lets me adjust the temperature remotely and monitor my food's temperature, which is so convenient. The difference in the food's taste is noticeable and I love experimenting with different flavors of wood pellets. Definitely sticking with #Asmoke for all my future outings.

Honestly when you think of tent temperatures in the sun, color and ventilation will make the real difference. Materials aren’t that big of a factor with all of them being waterproof. Side note, If you look at the stats, motorcycles aren’t as dangerous as non-riders make them out to be. Doodle on a motorcycle did a great video on the truth about them. The thing is, motorcycle accidents are talked about way more because there aren’t as many bikers as car drivers.

A wile back I was riding at night and a wild bore jumped out in front of me, i flew down the highway at 55 mph! miraculously and thanks to my gear i walked away with only a sore bum and enough adrenalin to wake the dead. if your wanting to ride i suggest sticking to dirt its a LITTLE safer(So long as you have ALL appropriate gear) . and there aren't other drivers to worry about! anyway Keep the rubber on the road Cheers!

Been riding motorcycles for 40 years. Dropped my bike one time. All it takes is one time. It didn’t kill me. Happened 36 years ago. Since that fall, I rode with a healthy paranoia, stayed out of wolf packs on the interstate, slowed down in bad weather, slowed down on mountain curves, prior to the curve, never trusted intersections, never did risky tricks, well, the list goes on with experience. Be careful. Luke, you’re so smart. Thank you for sharing your adventures…from east Tennessee.

PA was bad with heat and humidity today but other than that, I had a good day with my family. Hope you and Susan had a great one as well.

Great video I want to say we are praying for Joe and sorry to hear he is hurt. I’ve been riding for over 50 years and want to say motorcycles aren’t dangerous it’s the drunk or high fools or some AHole texting not paying attention that will kill you quicker than a New York minute. But we all have to die one day. We don’t really get a choice or much of one when that day comes all I can say is you have to be careful and everything you do today if you want to see tomorrow, my thoughts and prayers go out to Joe. We pray for a speedy recovery, thank you for sharing that. Keep up the good work.

This is a different style Teepee Tent that I think looks Great. So much more room in this style, great choice Luke.

Hey Luke... Long time subscriber, but first comment here. I'm really glad that you mentioned Noraly (Itchy Boots). I've been one of her subscribers for a while now, and she is amazing! I used to ride, but never had an accident. If you ride enough, you're likely to have one, and that's what happened to Noraly. She's healing up fine, and we're all looking forward to her getting out there again! S&H my friend. Say hi to Susie and family...

We should start putting a timestamp in each video where Luke says "It is What it is" HAHA I think it is in almost every video somewhere.

Snicker, you and Susie are welcomed to come North to Canada. You should like it up here as we don’t get a lot of really hot weather, just the occasional heat waves.

Was just camping in The Catskills the last 5 nights, I definitely took notice to the tiny little black flys there too. Last night we had some torrential rain come through but the Teepee tent my wife and I were testing stayed dry!

In south Florida and those temps would be a blessing. Actually too hot today to go to a 4th pool party. The pool water is 84 degrees. Everything is relative.

Canvas tents are like an Indian Sweat Lodge in the heat . Go light , tarp off if you need extra coverage. Listen to Luke y'all. 😁
