Chrysanthemum are herbaceous perennial plants or subshrubs. They have alternately arranged leaves divided into leaflets with toothed or occasionally smooth edges. The compound inflorescence is an array of several flower heads, or sometimes a solitary head. The head has a base covered in layers of phyllaries. The simple row of ray florets are white, yellow or red; many horticultural specimens have been bred to bear many rows of ray florets in a great variety of colors. The disc florets of wild taxa are yellow. The fruit is a ribbed achene. Chrysanthemums, also known as ‘mums’, are one of the prettiest varieties of perennials that start blooming early in the fall. This is also known as favorite flower for the month of November.
Season: Perennial
Sowing: February - June
Height: 50 - 70 cm (20'-30')
Blooms Time: August - november
Environment: Full sun to partial shade
Water: Medium
Chrysanthemum indicum will grow in almost every type of soil but prefer chalky, well-drained soil and in full sun or semi shade. Chrysanthemum indicum are a fully hardy flowering mid to late summer. Plants may need supporting in exposed areas. Soak plants before planting them out. This allows them to take up the maximum amount of water without doing any injury to the plant. Deadhead faded flowers to promote a constant supply of fresh blooms. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps in spring or after flowering late summer. Cut old stems to ground level in autumn.

My husband gave me flowers (with roots, violet crysanthemum) as a sweet gesture. I love it and looked after it but after a while, the flowers all started to die. Not sure what I did wrong. I wanted to save the plant and regrow it again. This video is a life saver. Thanks!

It would be extremely helpful if you were to explain what you're doing while you're doing it. Such as, why you keep cutting the stem you initially cut. Or explaining what would happen if you were to take cuttings in the fall after they bloomed. Or...

@dibbleandseed
@dibbleandseed 3 жыл бұрын
I place cuttings in water and you will start to see roots in 2 weeks. After potting up you will have a healthy root system in place and be seeing fresh new growth after about 2 months. Warmer weather will speed this up just as cooler weather will slow the process.

Cuttings grow true to type as they are exact clones of parents. You may get some variation in seed sown flowers.

The timing of taking the cuttings is wrong in my opinion, better to take cuttings from stool in march /april for early flowering varieties. Large disbuds that look in november/december are often rooted by end of january by me.
