They aren't holding their breath, they're doing this with basically no air in their lungs so they can move underwater. It's an incredible feat

I'm no expert but I dive a lot without masks and the whole gear, and the way I can reach the bottom and move across it is by exhaling some air right before I dive. I could reach close to 3 minutes back then (not much) when I'd swim everyday, now only half that.

they are well trained and experienced professionals... I am just a hobby freediver and my personal best without a lot of training right now is around 4:05 in static... this means holding breath for over 4 minutes without moving... (under supervision of my safety and buddy during the attempt) but I am FAR from them... I am happy to have that time and he had actual dives around that time where he moved... Guillaume is amazing...

When I was watching the music video and saw the comment about how amazing this video is, I just thought that they are completely out of their mind if they really think the video was really short in the real ocean. You can open your eyes in salty water. Really it's not a problem, you just see blurry. The problem is when you come up... oxyen. With salty water in your eyes and oxygen, it not a pleasure feeling. Just try it!

I know this is an 9 month old comment, but i think i can explain. You're eyes are already filled with salt water. Evolution gave creatures eyes ( All creatures were ocean creatures ) . They are made to look under water (ocean water/sea water). That's why it hurts when you open your eyes under lake water. The salt in your eyes is being diluted. Anyway, if the salt water in your area is very concentrated, it might be why you feel like it's hurting. They probably shot it in an area where it isn't very concentrated. If they did, i can assure you that the salt would dehydrate their eyes and would annoy them.

Has anyone wanted Runnin' music video be nominated in the Grammy? Btw, I am amazed to know that Runnin' was shot in real spot at the ocean. At first I thought it was just a computer graphics. Also, BGT's Josh Curnow's superb version keeps my interest in this song by looking at the core video.

Guillaume Nery is world champion of apnea. And his girlfriend, Alice, is very very skilled as well. They can easily hold their breath for 3 minutes. But in the video, they do it empty lungs, which is even more incredible.

It doesn't actually hurt your eyes at all, had to do it for diving and it's just a weird feeling because everything is cloudy. Diving instructor did it for almost 2 minutes but then again he was a dolphin

To be able to stay at the bottom they had to expel all the air from their lungs to reduce boyancy! So basically they weren't relying on any air at all, which is pretty impressive

+fudo They hyper-ventilate before diving. Try it. Breathe in and out really fast until you get light headed, and then get rid of all the air in your lungs. You'll find it's much easier to hold your breath.
