The Nautical series from iROCKER comes in a 10’6 and 11’6 version, and is designed to be iROCKER’s entry into the budget SUP space. While these SUPs surely won’t break the bank, they’re still nearing the impressive level of performance that we see on some of iROCKER’s higher end SUPs. In this video review, we’ll delve into every aspect of the Nautical SUPs, including their accessory lists, construction, features, and the differences in performance between the two size options.
Right out of the box, the Nautical series had many SUPs in this price range beat considering the included accessories alone. The Nautical share their fin set with iROCKER’s higher end line, and come equipped with a fiberglass paddle as well as a sturdy SUP backpack. Also carried down from iROCKER’s premium line is the Nautical’s features, as both the 10’6 and 11’6 Nautical sport front and rear cargo area, a multi purpose action mount, 3 carry handles, integrated safety grab straps, and kayak seat attachment points. At this price point, this is an unprecedented amount of versatility.
Another aspect of the Nautical that made it our top recommendation for on our list of Best Cheap SUPs is the series’ performance. At 10’6 x 32” and just 22 lbs, the 10’6 Nautical is a sporty but stable option for smaller or solo paddlers, while the 11’6 x 32” Nautical is more suited to taller and heavier paddlers, or paddlers who need a bit of space to bring along some gear or a passenger.
Lastly, we’re impressed with iROCKER’s ability to keep the Nautical in the budget category without cutting corners when it comes to construction. While most SUPs at competing prices are constructed with a single layer of PVC, the Nautical series utilizes dual layer construction and shares a similar drop stitch inner core with iROCKER’s more advanced line. This makes for a stiffer and more durable SUP over time.
For more details on the Nautical series and our own personal experience with the two SUPs over the years, stay with us through our video review and don’t hesitate to reach out in the comments below with any thoughts or questions.

I bought one of these as a “backup” board for friends to use and I low-key fell in love with it. It’s pretty much my go-to paddler now given how light it is to carry and how comfortable it is. Speed and tracking are top notch for an ISUP.

We've heard this sentiment quite a few times; they're great boards at such an accessible price.

They're also including a free electric pump with each order in Canada (as of September 7, 2022). I bought 2 boards and placed 2 orders so I would get one electric pump per board. So excited to try them out! We got the 10' 6" boards because the 11' 6" boards were out of stock.

Great review, I've enjoyed your channel and have subscribed! Question about the electric pump, does it have a psi setting? Wondering if I could get a 2 for 1 use case by also using it to inflate my Sea Eagle kayak?

I find it interesting that no one talks about getting back on the board if you fall off. Being a beginner SUP rider I have fallen off numerous times and have found the 6” thick board difficult to get on. My husband ended up making me a stirrup to assist with getting back on.

We'll be adding more how-to videos to our arsenal in the coming weeks, and content on how to get back onto the board is definitely on our list. I'm hoping the stirrup is working for you, but if not, sometimes it helps to shift your perspective and think about it as trying to push the board under you, rather than trying to pull yourself back onto the board.

It’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it. From the water, grab the handle, make sure your legs are away from the board, and kick a few times to get some lift, and at the same time, pull yourself up on the board on your stomach. That’s it!

I recently bought a nautical 10’6 as a backup, and found the tracking to be quite turny. Maybe it’s my technique, but I have to switch sides when paddling about every 3 strokes. Tried my friend’s BlueFin Cruise and didn’t have the same “problem”. What could be causing this on the 10’6 Nautical? Is the board just too short for me? I’m 5’9, btw.
@supboardguide
@supboardguide Жыл бұрын
What were the dimensions on your friend's Bluefin Cruise? Generally, longer board will track better than shorter boards. On a 10'6 it's not uncommon to switch sides between 3-5 strokes, but you could also head over to our video on paddle technique for some pointers: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j751nqeWmbnPgJs.html

@@supboardguide It was a 10’8. Cheers for the tip on the paddle techniques. Will check that out. I’ve got the basic strokes (J, and C Stroke) down pretty well. Probably need a bit of work on the J stroke, as that’s the one which always seems to turn the board more easily.
@supboardguide
@supboardguide Жыл бұрын
@@nunyabiz012 I know a J stroke is super useful canoeing, but I've never found it to be helpful when paddling on my SUP. it more comes down to nailing your catch and getting your paddle fully vertical as it enters the water. You could also try switching out your fin for a hatchet style touring fin if tracking is super important to you, though just keep in mind that your Nautical has a snap-lock fin box so you would need a hatchet fin that will be compatible with that.

My question is: what does the Nautical lack compared to a "non-beginner" board? Obviously a competitive user has specific needs and products tailored to those needs but in what ways might a seasoned casual paddler find the Nautical boards lacking? Or put another way: what features would a seasoned casual paddler desire that wouldn't be found in the Nautical line? Thanks for the video!

I have one of those $1K ISUPs and might be able to help with this one. Here's a list of missing specs off the top of my head Triple layer pvc construction. Triple layer railing. Fused railing. Cross stitch construction. Universal finbox. The grip pad isn't very grippy (some would prefer this though) Art (subjective, but look up Sea Gods ISUPs as an example) With that said, they sell this thing for $200 right now and it does seem like quite the deal. It does have the following notable specs: D rings all up the sides and tips. Bungee cording. Action mount. Dual layer pvc construction. Think of it this way, this board is way better than the Costco isup priced at $400. The only thing really missing is they don't sell it with a bag anymore (to bring the price down)

@@workappropriate3024 Hey! Thanks a bunch for the detailed reply, that's really helpful. Based on the reviews, I purchased two Nauticals. So far, I have no issues with performance but I'm a newb and second I'd describe myself as "casual-enthusiast" user. But I can see the benefit of a universal fin box. And I can understand the difference in construction, both for longevity and rigidity, the latter of which I reckon won't be an issue for me until I experience it. My Nauticals both came with bags. I've seen some Nauticals online and in reviews that differ from mine. Mine has a bunch of D-rings, bungies at both ends etc. Surface feature-wise they seem on par with higher end boards. Perhaps the others ones I've seen were earlier models? The thing I was really wondering is if all three lower priced boards are coming from the same Chinese factory and if so, are the Nauticals essentially the same thing but with more surface features. Or are they designed and built by/for iRocker. Thanks again for the reply! Happy paddling!
