I really love this diesel train journey throughout Sri Lanka 🇱🇰. I'm happy that Sri Lankan railways is full of diesel train running zones and I'm proud that both Alco and EMD engines haul the trains there and too many diesel-electric multiple unit trains are operated all over SriLanka, which is the beauty of SriLanka. Whereas in India, all the trains run by electric locomotives as the Indian railways is fully electrified and the diesel locomotives both Alco and EMD engines are used only for train shunting purposes all over India.

Naveen Kumar, rotating type fans in railway coaches were there in our electric local trains and express trains during the 1970s. I had seen those fans in Nilgiri Express, West Coast express, Navjivan Express, and GT express on SR. Now we see only non-rotating fans but there are a large number of fans. Some coaches in Sri Lanka are made by ICF Chennai, while some are from China and Indonesia.

No coaches were imported from Indonesia. There are Romanian coaches which were imported during 80s' still in operation.

In our country so many ticletless passengers are also travelling in Unreserved Coaches with impunity. Very scenic view of Coastal track. Special Thanks Naveen Kumar for this Great railway journey FROM Maradana to Galle. Stations are neat and clean . Even unauthorized people are not sitting on benches on platforms. Very beautiful route and well covered by you too. Unfortunately this train and the route has a very sad past of being swallowed by the sea during the Tsunami and the entire route was re constructed. Not only Sri Lanka..... many African countries also run trains with ICF manufactured coaches.....of course with their specifications. The saddest part in Indian railways is that we needed a Vande Bharat to be introduced now to experience these kind of coaches.....while they have always been manufactured by India for other countries. Luckily we atleast had a Shatabdhi since quite some time to experience premium train travel. Those rotating fans that you showed were a regular feature in all long distance trains in the 80s and changed to stationary fans in the 90s. Did you notice the civic sense and discipline followed by the people of Sri lanka in maintaining public property and their country so clean and beautiful. Rail bus travel??

Sri lankan railway museum mature. Only some kilometers of track are updated and rollingstock are indian , chinese and vintage canadian, german, French and romanian( mostly cocahes) other systems just littel bit advance from colonial Era. Wel come to eelam( one of many name for the island).

#Srilankan_Railway was mainly Broadgauge due to its location in Coastal areas & Broadgauge is more stable in coastal areas that is why from Pre_Indepence time Most of Railways especially with #CoastalWinds & #HeavyFreight was always #Broadguage, narrow & metergauge were selected where there needed cost cutting & lesser infrastructure items like wood & steel. Brother Dont Miss Thalaimannar, Kankesanthurai & East coast Railway of Tamil Areas between #Batticola(#Mattakalappu) to (#ThirConoMalai) Tricomale Via #Galoya, The ONLY narrow-gauge line Kelani Valley line The Kelani Valley line extends from Maradana east to Avissawella. Originally a narrow-gauge line, it was converted to 5 ft 6 in (1,676 mm) broad gauge between 1991 and 1997. The line connects the Colombo suburbs in the district with the city.

He tried but I am disappointed by his log not enough to cover and he told this beautiful wonderful stretch ella to nanoya is not that much better than Ooty train… I agreed, but here the srilanka is 75 cleaner than india , moreover they never cut trees , the route I traveled more than once to feel the wonderful scenic route, the carriage of Ella odessy is far better than Ooty toy train, when I went first time it’s rs 650 in srilanka rupees 2nd class in 2022 March then Nov 2022 it was 900 rupees fort to ella, like that the food and all things are sky rocketed from March price to November price, now due to gst like tax now price are more I try to reach his inbox on 2022 to tell abt the train routes in srilanka, he never see my message due to lot of messages to him by subscribers, I am subscriber of both I am subscriber of transit bites and I send off him to srilanka in ferry from Nagaipattinam
