Just us an EQ correctly for each track. Or at least use a spectrum analysis of some sort to make sure you don't have a bunch of weird information in there that is not needed or supporting the fundamentals itself. Then you can use some additive EQ later to firmly place elements in their home. I am a bit less experienced in additive EQ and tend to try and avoid it, so I am trying to use it more lately.

Don't get overwhelmed with notes and chords and that stuff at the beginning. Trust your ears and when you get that fuzzy feeling in your just, you did good. My simple advice to those just starting is turn the 808 way up and everything else down some. Start from there. Play it in your car because thats where we all listen to music. If it sounds good in your car , you just won a battle at Ft. Life.

I love the fact that there are many types of plugins that a lot of producers use, plugins that does most of the identification, if not all of it when it comes to beats and chords. Completely ignores this fact. Starts teaching beatmakers how to build fire with sticks and stones. I love it.

Hmm, using DirectWave as the sampler? Does that offer any advantages? I know it messes with the channel volume for me and that's kind of weird. I know it does some automatic tuning for 808s, so there's that atleast.
@k.o.d.b.productions49663 жыл бұрын
I did not know that about the sampler. Thanks for the info!
@user-lt2rw5nr9s3 жыл бұрын
@@k.o.d.b.productions4966 I checked and it isn't actually automatic. If you right click the zone and select find pitch root, then it will tune it. Drop down a few octaves though. After checking with a tuner plugin, it still seemed 9 cents off. So it's not as accurate as by hand. Not every 808 needs fine tuning though, most people don't worry about it. If it's a bad 808 it would be a lot off and would need special attention.
