Switched one of my recent beat’s hi-hats from trappy triplets to something super bouncy and spacious. It made the whole beat hit so much different. Definitely don’t be afraid to think outside the box.

I concur with this. I am even guilty of what you describe, just automatically creating a typical hi hat pattern instead of going out of my way to do something more rhythmically unique.

As a trap producer from 2013 i can respect this, but only from a outsiders perspective. Trap drums should go with trap melodies, not those guitar shit and flute shit. cuz once u start doing trap drums with those kind of things, shit will eventually start going downhill one day or the other. Yes music is about exploration but some things just dont go with each other and definitely not with lofi melodies. Trap is always dark and hyped just know that, some times it will work smoothly like metro did with mask off but most of the times it doesnt. Trap drums only ruin beats that are not made with a trap beat approach. Trap music doent have a official house of guidance and theory, it was always youtube producers figuring things on their own and try to pass it of as a theory which will always work, no it doesnt man. Trap was always a underground underground production, but now all of a sudden everyone wants a piece of this music even tho they have no idea about the original trap sound, and ends up with melodies and drums that doesnt go with eachother saying trap drums ruins beats. This isnt a opinion by the way, its a fact thats not written in the books, you just gotta look and experience it yourself to know its a fact. Anyone else also from that underground trap era will know what i truly mean.
