I'm a licensed plumber in Canada, and I just have to say I have so much respect for this person. An honest plumber is hard to find nowadays, and to find one willing to help instead of gouging the customer. That's a game changer. Keep on doing what you're doing, you're doing the world a much needed service and keeping the scummy plumbers away at the same time. :)

This was an exact replacement for the old one that lasted about 10 years. kzfaq.infoUgkx7yWIKcrbA9KMHkGSfcgxW2lsjHT6B8Sh The top of my mitigation tube by my roofline was just a 90 elbow which allowed too much debris to fall down into the fan, eventually ruining it. Without this issue, I bet it would have kept running another 10 years. When I replaced this fan, I added an extra elbow joint so the top tube now it does a 180, which should solve that problem. The radon guys around here wanted to charge me a $300 diagnostic fee, then parts/labor (probably close to $600 total). I installed this all by myself in about an hour for the cost of the fan; it would probably be even easier/faster with two people. FYI the manufacturer's warranty greatly differs depending on whether you install it yourself (1 yr warranty) or have a licensed installer do it (10 yrs).

Given that this video is 5 years old...speaks volumes.... I couldn't just give a thumbs up and walk away. I gave a thumbs up to another video Ray did on servicing the Navien....but it wouldn't allow for comments, so I thought I'd just comment on this video since its essentially about the same topic. Ray - your videos are absolutely game changers. You explain things so well, I feel like I'm working for Water Heaters doing OTJT! Everything you covered was so thorough, it saved me quit a bit in service fees. If you guys were local in town to the Houston area, you'd be my plumbing company of choice, hands down. Thank You for a great PhD in tankless water heater maintenance!

Great video - thank you! I would like to add a couple of critical additional pointers that were omitted from your tutorial: 1) If there are multiple units running in Cascade mode, before flushing, you MUST FIRST take them out of Cascade mode, by doing the following (If you do not do this, the Cold Water service inlet will not allow water into the unit and your pump will be dead-ended): - Turn on all water heaters using the Power button. - On the master water heater, press and hold the Diagnostic and Reset buttons for more than 5 seconds. The water heaters will revert to independent operation. Then, turn the units off and they will be ready for flushing. - After flushing and maintenance are complete, turn on all water heaters using the Power button. - To reinstate Cascade mode: A. On the unit you intend to be the Master water heater ( I rotate mine every year), press and hold the Diagnostic and Up(+) buttons for more than 5 seconds. “MA.00” will appear on the display to confirm that this water heater is set as the master. B. On the slave water heater, press and hold the Diagnostic and Down(-) buttons for more than 2 seconds. “SL.01” will appear on the display to confirm that this water heater is set as a slave. C. Repeat step 2 to configure the rest of the slave water heaters in the system, i.e., "SL.02"... D. On the master water heater, press and hold the Diagnostic and Up(+) buttons for more than 5 seconds. All the display screens on the configured water heaters will return to the temperature display. 2) If you are using External Recirculation, don't forget to clean that Recirculation Inlet filter in addition to the Cold Water Inlet filter (they are exactly the same filters). 3) After draining and before flushing, DO NOT FORGET to move the lever on the Safety Relief Valve back down to its normal operating position! I learned this mistake the hard way, after I had pumped 5 gallons of vinegar into the drain because the safety valve was still open!! DUH LOL!!

This gentleman has provided a fantastic ‘how-to’ video. Every step is performed perfectly in order. There are other videos out there, but this is the best. Take notes or watch this video on your iPad and do as he does, pausing the video as needed. You can’t go wrong. Each step is explained at the proper time in the proper sequence. No cover is replaced or power switch turned on, until it’s time. It is my favourite ‘how-to’ for flushing my Navien water-heater.

Thanks to your video, I just got my heat and hot water running by myself in the middle of winter on a holiday weekend. Thanks so much for this FREE tutorial! I've now performed this twice in the past year after experiencing warm water with 'hot' turned all the way up. We were able to survive a few days by 'tricking' the system--we'd run 2 faucets when we wanted hot water from 1. The whole process can take about 1.5-4 hours, depending on your skill, availability of tools, and access. We used a non-submersible pump from Harbor Freight both times. It's just a matter of matching up the correct fittings...

I really like this plumbing company as they always do very good work, but in this case, I’m glad I held off and decided to see if I could do it myself. This is easy stuff, the only thing you need to get is a submersible pump. Those go for $50. 2 gallons of white vinegar = $10. So my first go around I will already have saved myself $190. And cleaning after that, I’ll keep $240 in my pocket. And all because of this video! Thank you for putting this on.

Great video, thank you for the thorough explanations and accurate step-by-step. Three notes for those trying at home: make sure hoses on services ports are tight, mine wasn't and it leaked vinegar everywhere. Also, my cold water filter drained for quite a while, so bucket was very necessary. Lastly, my cold water filter needed more than 1/8th turn of tightening after cleaning and reinserting. Until I tightened it 1/2 way, it was leaking during vinegar flush with the sump-pump.

My salute to Ray and his camera person! I do wildlife photography and watch a lot of videos on editing in lightroom and photoshop and I have never seen a instruction or help video that has been presented in a better or easier way to understand. You did a great job and I commend you. All these wannbe video people need to take a look and see how to teach and reach the people who need to know how to do things they have never done and want to learn. Thanks again Ray and crew. You did a great job of explaining how to flush your tankless water heater. I’ve seen 4 different videos , this is specific to 3 of my tankless heaters at my businesses. The one I have at home is a Rennai tankless. I bought everything separate and made a kit. I cleaned all four and they all still work. Why would anyone mark you with a thumbs down. Thanks again for the information. (maybe jelious plumbers)

Very good instructional video. Thank you . I wrote down every single step for future reference. At the beginning of the video Ray unplugged the water heater from the wall, but at the end of the video he forgot to mention to plug the Water heater back in the wall. It's a little detail that might confuse some people. Thanks again for a good instructional video.

Very helpful. Getting a Navien installed in about a week and I saved this video to refer back to when I need to do routine maintenance.
