apparently each lemon will produce 0.7 volts however you can increase it by inserting more zinc coated nails and copper inserts but the best way is laid out in this video where there is more electrolyte in the form of citric acid by having more lemons and a bigger power supply.

I think it is the acid in the lemon that makes it work... I doubt an apple or peach would work... let us know what you find out!

+S.Shankara Kumaran No, not possible, one lemon give only 0.85 V, connecting in series gives 3.4 V, (minimum voltage to glow led is 3 V )

You will need to insert more zinc and copper plates in one lemon - if lemon is big enough - and connect them like you did to four lemons!.........Electricity is NOT in the lemons but its produced by electron exchange between zinc and copper.......lemon juice is just electrolite.....

Stop wasting lemons! As long as your lemon is big and juicy enough, it could even work with one, just stick all 4 plate pairs into it. The lemon provides 0 power, it's only the conductor for the ions.

The power comes form the zinc, not the lemon. Protons are far too large to move through wire
