This is an unboxing review so I cannot say too much about how the navigation performs. The first impression is that the device looks great, there are plenty of accessories and also the carrying pouch.

I've got this edition I think, I didn't realise it doesn't have live traffic which is rubbish for a modern satnav. If I plug it in it doesn't do anything and was told by Navpal I'd have to pay nearly £90 for technical support and over £90 a year for map updates that include live traffic

There are many of these 7" navigators that appear to be nearly identical. They all start with iGO navigation software that may have some minor changes to the icons and such. But the navigators looks the same in all of them from viewing the many youtube videos. So far I'm impressed with mine that's branded MekedeTech. I'm comparing this to Magellan, TomTom, and Garmin which that last two are still in use today. The map view on this iGO is so much better.

@@thra5herxb12s There's a few forum based sites that can provide useful information on the iGO navigation engine software. My 7" display has a now obsolete Microsoft WinCE 6.0, and that seems common in these, and still sold with this in the 3 of these I've gotten so far. It also comes with free redlight and speedcams. But I found that did not have any of the cameras in Cedar Rapids Iowa. So I edited them in with a text editor, but can be done with spread sheet programs in Office type spread sheet program, they are *.txt files in a sub folder that can be accessed just like a thumb drive via the USB cable that comes with them. The first thing I did, is to copy the ~8GB of contents to my local PC hard drive or into a USB thumb drive, and do not edit this one, and keep it intact. OK, so the txt speedcam files are comma delimited readable numbers. They reverse the order of the normal latitude and longitude coordinates, but it's easy to see how to add new ones. There's a file in that same folder that is the navigator software running on power up and boot to see if it must be rebuilt. There are files in this speedcam folder that have the *.spdb, which I'm guessing are "speed data base", just delete these files with this extension, and copy in the edited red light and speed cam text file with the comma delimited columns, and on reboot into normal auto use mode, i.e. connected to just +5 volt USB power, with no computer connection, will start up and recreate the .spdb files with the new camera locations installed. It's much easier then it sounds. There are several columns, after long, lat, 'cam type', speed camera file format X,Y,TYPE,SPEED,DIRTYPE,DIRECTION X - Lng Y - Lat TYPE - camera type: 1)speed 2)built in traffic light 3)red light 4)section 5)radar SPEED - limit DIRTYPE - direction of operation 0)all 1)single direction 2)both direction DIRECTION - camera angle (0~360) . I got this by internet search, joined two forums, and still need to learn more. The down side the data base they have is very old, free updates, and I've looked at the last 4 years of the map data bases, which for the USA, is arranged by state, like Alaska and the file sizes are the exact same. Somehow they are tied up with TomTom as the original source. I'm not sure on that, but it seems to keep showing up in searches.

hi there, apparently for use the europe maps you will need a navpal europe version. This is what the company told me when i asked them your question. Hope this helps

You can change from miles to KM in the settings in Navigation - How to set units to KM or MPH In navigation go to Settings>Regional>Units and Formats>Distance and select Kilometres or Miles.Hope this helps.

@@thelegend3965 its a suction cup. Chances of it sticking on a soft dashboard is very low. Get a self adhesive plate to stick on the dash, and then suction mount the satnav to that instead

Does the particular sat nav going by the name BLUETOOTH SAT NAV (7 INCH) UK EUROPE EDITION come with all the maps already built in & ready to go once you've unboxed it & set it up!.. I understand it also comes with Free Lifetime Updates which must be a huge selling point but will i have to update on a Pc as soon as I've unboxed it & set it up?! The reason i'd like more information & clarity on the latter comment is i dont think those that make such tecnological aides dont realise that not everyone has or needs a Pc anymore... If i bought this particular Sat Nav would i need to get it updated via Pc as soon as I've set it up!... Its at a very reasonable price & the Free Lifetime Updates will also make this a desirable Sat Nav for those who dont want to spend just over £350 for one of TomTom's best Sat Navs.... Any extra & useful information would be appreciated... In light of this still ongoing coronavirus stay safe & healthy wherever you are in this world... .....

Buddy... I am waiting to find out about maps ... I bought off Amazon and all I got was USA Maps.. Pain in arse to be honest when it was bought because UK & Ireland... If its not fixed quickly for me then Im sending back with a crap review .. But I will check first and give them a chance to rectify... When I change region (UK) and date and time then nothing happens and maps stick to Yankee time zone... Sorry but I dont drive in Colorado

@@chrismillar3972 Hi Chris, Sorry to hear about the trouble your having with yours & Yes give them 1 opportunity to sort it or ask for your money back as thats stand practice & if your not happy after allowing them to fix this error your well within your rights to demand a full refund... Just sounds weird & odd considering its s European Edition & its adverising the product as a British Brand but it could be another bogus statement on their end!... As i was about to buy something for my car last week & it was advertised as being made by the AA & everything about the logo & the details looked fine but i thought i'd check the reviews & it turns out other buyer's checked into that company as there were so many were faulty products being reported which was odd as they were being advertised as being products from the AA & it turns out its a company in China!... How the hell are the AA not stopping them & taking them to court is beyond me & as each year that passes i rarely buy off the internet now , as i just dont know if the company is legit or not... Maybe you've got a problem with yours & they havve sent out one that does American Maps , but i find it highly unlikely though , as why is it advertised as a European Edition & advertised as a british brand for british motorist & roads but i find that , again , is just odd & it needs looking into!.. Let me know how you got on as the worst case scenario is you should get your money back... In light of this still ongoing coronavirus stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world... @@chrismillar3972 Sorry to bother you but how did you get it to do UK Maps!... Was it a case of going into settings or you had to download or update the Navpal via Pc?.. As this Navpal looks to be the Sar Nav id like to use as my phone built in Sat Nav's lag time is infuriating & could cause & accident & you have to hit the phones screen to get it to repeat the directions as your coming up to where you think you should be going & its definitely not as good as a Sat Nav... Many swear by their phones built in Sat Nav but my experience witj my phone built in one (even after updating it) it is still no as reliable & as safe as an actual.Sat Nav thats built to do that particular job... One more thing which i found odd in the add for Navpal is thr fact when one of the slide show images shows the map route along with an image of where your going , again , it was of an American Interstate which i found odd!.. I should be getting my csr back in a few days as its back at the dealership where i bought it from getting a few things replaced & adjusted & i'd like to get a good reliable sat nave for UK roads & motorways without breaking the bank as , like all cars , i fear my bill for the work on my car isnt going to be cheap... Ah the joys of having a car... Me Arse... lol If you can let me know how you got your Navpal changed to show the UK's maps itd be appreciated... @@chrismillar3972 Hi Chris, My apologies for contacting you again about the Navpal Sat Nav but i felt it best to ask you what exactly you had to do to get your Navpal to show maps for roads & motorways in the UK , as yours was showing up for American one's instead of the UK!.. Im hoping to get my car back sometime this week & i'd like to buy a reasonably priced Sat Nav that'll take me where i need to go as & the Navpal seems to fit that bill & i'd like to have a Sat Nav set up & ready to go once i get my car back from repairs... .....
