The only two Chaplains I can remember serving with, were really fuckin weird. And by weird, I mean I could smell the “little boy” on their breath.
Being in their presence made me feel uncomfortable, but listening to them talk and watching them interact with others made me think they had Aspergers and a proclivity for middle schoolers.
However, I’ve heard stories from many other service members who had amazing and memorable Chaplains. Chaplains who truly cared about the troops, who boosted morale, and helped Marines and soldiers get through hard times.
Then I heard stories about Chaplains who were once warriors, but replaced their rifle with the Bible to spread love and life, rather than hate and death.
These are the Chaplains I wanted to represent with the character Chaplain Kelly.
The idea for this character came from my friend Jeremy Walton, who was a leader in my non-profit Irreverent Warriors. During the Nashville Hike Jeremy pitched me the idea of a Chaplain who went around to patrol bases in combat zones and celebrated the Marines’ kills with a ceremony that was based in Norse mythology.
As a former (and recovering) Catholic, I saw a great opportunity to combine Catholic Mass, Marine Corps ceremony, and Norse mythology.
The result is one of the best and most entertaining characters to come out of VET Tv.
Chaplain Kelly knows 2ndLt Murphy and SSgt Rich from Iraq, specifically from Operation Phantom Fury, when Murphy and Rich served together in Kilo 3/5, 1st platoon. Corporal Murphy was a team leader in 3rd squad, and Sgt Rich was the squad leader for 2nd squad.
During the battle of Fallujah, Corporal Murphy was known to collect enemy body parts, and wore a necklace full of Iraqi ears. Word spread through the lance corporal underground that Murphy had ears, and every chance a grunt got, he’d cut off an ear. This became a problem, and within a week
Chaplain Kelly was summoned to the platoon, and confronted Murphy about the ears. Chaplain Kelly, then a Col, tried to convince Murphy to get rid of the ears, but Murphy refused, claiming that he earned the right to wear the ears by killing his enemies in battle.
Before Chaplain Kelly could bring Murphy back to the right side of humanity, Chaps was transferred to another battalion, and Murphy was left unchecked as he fought through the streets of Fallujah.
Chaplain Kelly always wished he could’ve gotten through to Murphy…
Chaps, Murphy, and Rich have a special bond and respect for each other because of their experiences in Iraq, and that’s why Chaps is exactly what SSgt Rich needs to get 2ndLt Murphy under control.
Chaps also has a thing for converting muslims to Christianity. It’s kind of his kink. If you want to know if Chaps “nails one” this visit, you gotta subscribe to watch the rest of the episode.
Love and xoxo

Recovering Catholic? All Catholics need to recover by going back to the traditional Latin Mass. It will change your life. FATHER VINCENT Capadanno is the Grunt Padre. KIA and MOH recipient. Catholic priest from Brooklyn. Pray for us. I was a 0311 and infantry squad leader during this period you depict in Helmand. Very funny.

@@19372 I used to be Catholic too. Your solution to fixing the Catholic Church is Latin Mass? Are you daft? You expect us to bend our knees towards an institution that can’t keep its priests from molesting children, can’t keep its leaders from supporting tyrants like Diem and the Duvalier family, and is so backwards on women’s rights that it wants to ban birth control and your answer to all that is using a dead language for a dying institution and thinking it will breathe new life into it? No wonder there’s more ex-Catholics in America than practicing ones.

Legit, I'm surprised not more people notice it. When I watch these videos they're always speaking Arabic or Hindi like that one soldier, instead of Pashto which I would expect to be the majority language of southern Afghanistan. They couldn't find anyone willing to write Pashto lines for the actors to say? It amazes me

I was a 71M (Chaplain Assistant) in the U.S. Army from 1987-1993. My first duty station was VII Corps Headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. I drove for 4 chaplains (O-6, 2 O-5 and an O-4) and the CSM of all chaplain assistants in VII Corps. CSM Parker served in the Airborne in Viet Nam and Chaplain Johnson served in Viet Nam and Chaplain (06) Davis Special Forces in Viet Nam. Davis talked me into going into Special Forces and I graduated from SFAS and made it to the Q course where I ended up messing my back up and ended at 1/10th SF back in Germany. The chaplain I had was a captain and tabbed Special Forces but this guy was a religious nut job. All the chaplain assistants and chaplains I worked with I have never met a more fucked up and insane group of people in my life (including myself), lol. The Chaplain Corps does a great job of helping with moral and I am proud of the work I did in the barracks to help connect soldiers with the help they needed but I could party with the best of them and the chaplain corps is insanely judgmental. I have seen chaplains tell soldiers that got Dear John letters that it was their fault for not loving god enough. I have seen chaplains go to command and fuck up carreers of soldiers with confidential information to command. I have also seen chaplains comfort those in need of comfort and I have seen chaplains and chaplain assistants make a difference in the emotional, spiritual and mental wellbeing of thousands of troops. Chaplains are like a box of chocolates, you never know what youll get, lol...

What a Chap bro what a Chap… even though it’s scripted they’re our Holy men and Women on all fronts that have Divine goodness and are willing to intertwine and study each other’s “Religions”. Even though vulgar and hilarious I loot this clip. It has real world experiences, interactions, and wisdom. May our Divine Creator of all of us on our home Mother Earth 🌍 🌎 🌏 protect you and your families; and those in evil because everyone deserves a 2nd chance if enlightened and proved of it. To ask for forgiveness you must give forgiveness. To all warriors out their on all sides that have Honor and those that are still learning or those that maybe be not there. I thank you for your protecting with good intentions and I apologize as one Soul for all the suffering from evil (Conditioning from leaders on all fronts) that has us all still at war. Love y’all and wish you the best of lives and afterlives with peace🫡 🇺🇸 Thank you

Ius Ius or Jus (Latin, plural iura) in ancient Rome was a right to which a citizen (civis) was entitled by virtue of his citizenship (civitas). The iura were specified by laws, so ius sometimes meant law. As one went to the law courts to sue for one's rights, ius also meant justice and the place where justice was sought.

That is a false god, and it is an idol. "slaying bodies" isn't cool. The enemy we kill are human too, just like everyone else. Just like your family is human, they are human too. Some have different beliefs and do horrible things, but killing shouldn't be an achievement.

Lol. I had a Pelter. And his wife was really cheating on him. They ended up working it out. They shared her. That's bad to say but it's true. Talked to him years later. He and his wife were still together. But the other guy was gone. No no no that wasn't Pelter. He had the Bronco. That was Peval ( don't remember how to spell his name. I should I wrote him enough councilen statements)

It's really hard to get good audio quality on set. A way to solve this is to have actors dubbing over themselves to achieve clarity. Also, added background noises make you feel as if it's organic.

I think l they’re speaking English. But since they don’t know how to speak Afghani language, they just dubbed them.
