Hey, Jose! Good advice. Remember doing our version of bootcamp (RNZN) in 1980, which was 12 weeks. The run was two miles, which needed to be completed under 13.30. We didn't have a situp+pushup test. They do now, I hear. We did a lot of rope climbing. You got the cleaning and importance of kit maintenance. Wish I had sombody then to teach me how to march and do kit. Keep up the good work.

+Traveling with Jose yea with ROTC and all, I still haven't fully decided on a branch yet but if I decide on navy I'm most likely enlisting but if I decide on Army or Marines I definitely want to go in as an officer. Im still researching all the branches though.

Hello Jose. I just want to start off by saying thank you truly man. I have watched your videos and ended up subscribing to you. Your videos has truly helped. From help with passing the ASVAB to preparing for Navy bootcamp, thank you. I just got done watching your video about Navy bootcamp and had just a couple more questions if you don't mind clearing up for me. 1) How big does the box, mentioned in your video being sent to you after bootcamp, that my parents will send to me? 2) Are there any good websites or books that I can rent/buy to brush up on my military(Navy) history that you recommend so tat I can be prepared? 3) What items do you recommend we physically bring to bootcamp that is acceptable, that we can keep and that will not get tossed or thrown away? 4) If majority of our belongings we take to bootcamp will get tossed or donated, what about my cell phones, my wallet that I will have money, credit cards, and ID's in and my passport? 5) So the Navy will provide me with a box, assuming that box will be for things that we can keep there at camp. What are things that I will be allowed to keep at boot camp? 6) If our clothes and everything are getting tossed out, what are we going to wear while we are there at bootcamp for the two months? Will they provide me with under garments, uniforms, clothes, shoes, socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, hygiene products, etc. to make myself not smelly and smelling decent at least?

Hey man. Have a pretty simple question. I'm in DEP right now (2 months in) and was supposed to ship to Basic in January but asked to get an earlier date last week. By my surprise I was able to go next month, Oct. 17th to be exact. I'm pretty prepared mentally and physically and adapt pretty well to different lifestyles. Actually kinda enjoy different things so I'm actually pretty excited for BC. I'm 24 so I'm ready for a challenge and a change. My biggest concern is the studying part. I now only have less than a month until I go and I'm pretty busy. I'm sure I can memorize the Creed but know I'm not going to be able to memorize the General Orders and a lot of other things. I know they will teach you (and you'll have no choice but to learn). Do they really get on your case for not knowing these things ahead of time? Are there others that don't know much either? Just don't want to be the odd one out there. Other than that, I'm pretty much set to go. Thanks for the tip about having something pre-packed for after graduation, definitely helpful. I know you're probably busy, try to get back to me as soon as you can. Thanks for your service brother.

My recruiter told me to lose 10 more pounds before bootcamp, which gave me like 3 and a half weeks. If I get to bootcamp, and somehow fail tape, will they keep me in bootcamp to do intensive training to lose the pounds, or just sent home? I ship out May 10th. As far as I know, I have lost at least 3 pounds so far these last 13 days, but feel like I've had slow progress regardless of my big caloric defecit... Also working out everyday. 3.1 miles a day at least.

Hey Jose Thanks for all your videos. I got a few questions if you don't mind to answer. My ship day is on Aug 9th 2017 and I feel that I am ready. Already know General Orders, Rank and Recognitions, Sailor's Creed and etc. but my English is limited and I wonder and worry that if I understand everything there or if I can to ask Petty Officer or Chief to repeat the questions. Also, I wonder if my friend can bring my bag with laptop and other belongings on graduation day if I pass all tests and last question, where is better to work on a ship or oversea? I know it's depends on my GPA during keeping orders but anyway I am interested your personal opinion. Sorry for my 10384629 questions 😃

You're leaving soon! Good Luck. From what I saw in bootcamp they will try to tone things down because of the language issue but you will have to let them know. Where are you from? No don't have your friend take you anything. I heard of people graduating and getting in trouble on the last day for having their cell phone. If you work overseas you're most likely going to work on a ship. No worries I'm here to help.

How is the experience for gays in the navy? Do you have any advice for someone who is gay and considering entering the navy? Is there any harassment/discrimination against them?
@TravelingwithJose
@TravelingwithJose 8 жыл бұрын
+Jose Barajas In the military you don't have to hide your sexual orientation because "Don't ask, Don't tell is not in effect anymore. Anybody has the right to be open. I know some gay and lesbian people on the ship and I'm pretty sure there is no discrimination or harassment against them but I've never personally asked this kind of question.

@TravelingwithJose
@TravelingwithJose 8 жыл бұрын
+Abrea McGhee So in my case I went straight from A school to C school but after C school I went home for a month then left for Japan. If you don't get C school I believe you go home for a few days(like 5-10) then you go to your first command. I remember they gave more days if you were leaving to another country. If you get stationed in America it's easier to go home than it is overseas.

@TravelingwithJose
@TravelingwithJose 8 жыл бұрын
+Michael Robinson It might be less depending on where you get stationed. If you come to Japan and she stays in America then you might see her 2-3 weeks out of the year. If you get stationed in America and have to deploy, and the deployments last more than 9 months. It'll be a little more than 60 days out of year but still very short amount of time. Deployment times range so there's that. It's one of those tough reality situations that you have to accept if you join the Navy.
