How about the Dad being a great Dad and support his son by finding a Navy SEAL to help him. This is what we need more of in our society, to teach, honor, and value fatherhood. It is sorely missing.

flawed statement, sounds nice though. What if you thought you couldn't...but, overcame by some slim margin. Then the "I can't" thought you had was wrong. One is never always right regardless. Sometimes,...many times, one is wrong; and must prove to themselves that they were wrong to doubt themselves and/or foolishly believe they could when they in fact can not.

I’m a high school drop out and had periodic moments of homelessness. Enlisted in the Army, went airborne, deployed, and was honorably discharged. I am now gainfully employed, have a family, and will graduate with my MBA in September. I shed many tears but still moved forward from support of those around me. People want to help those who help themselves. Airborne.

Had a friend who had a son that would be considered a loser in high school. Always in trouble. Had trouble with authority. He was smart and had awesome grades, but that did not make up for all his other issues. After graduating high school, he joined the Army. Something in him transformed. He found something he loved. Structure. After two years, he applied to West Point under a program available to current solders. He was selected, went to the Prep School and was admitted. He graduated and after a few years, he is now serving as a Captain with an infantry unit.

@Dave Chappelle I don't think Scott went to Iraq for the money. Once you do all the accounting and take into account all of the risk, the money isn't that much. Operators, operate and given a chance to do it free from all of the red tape, many of them are going to take it because sitting on the sidelines can be soul crushing. One thing to remember about war, very few people go thinking it will be them going home in a body bag. He would probably be alive today if the corporate greed, logistical inefficiency or government red tape allowed them to have armored trucks and fully automatic weapons. Not much you can do when 30 7.62 x 39 rounds comes screaming through an aluminum truck body in less than 10 seconds.

Dave Chappelle you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. Those of us who serve or have served in the military, do what we do because we want to. When the highly skilled operators enjoy what they do for a job, it’s not about the money, it’s about the service, doing what you enjoy and what you’re good at. You’re out of you element and you’re opinion is without any experience in this line of work. Move on!

This is my dream. Since I was 9 years old I had my mind made up. I’m 14 now and I started working out in august. I’m proud of myself for training. I went from being able to do 1 pull up to doing 15. This summer I plan to focus on swimming. Running is the hardest part for me which is why I run about everyday. I need to be better at the stuff I hate then the stuff I like in my opinion. My inspiration is Chris Kyle after seeing the movie American Sniper.

GoatPickle amazing. I also plan on becoming a SEAL when I graduate from highschool. Never ever ever give up on your dream. You can really do anything that you put your mind to. You don't even need to be the most athletic person in the world. The thing that gets you through is sheer will and determination. One thing that really inspires me is Robert O'Neill The man that killed Osoma Bin Laden. He didnt even know how to swim when he went into BUD/S and he made it to the most elite team in the World, Seal team 6 (DEVGRU) I will become a SEAL or I will die trying.

I love stories like this one. I was a high school drop out, who joined the military. Once I completed boot camp and initial training, I reported to my first duty station. There, I was fortunate enough to have had several mentors who helped me rise from E-1 to E-5 in a very short time. They also encouraged me to go back to school and earn my undergraduate degree. I left the military, graduated from college, and went to officer candidate school. My commissioned service culminated in a graduate degree, and retirement after 20 honorable years of service. Was I special? Don’t think so. However, I was motivated by someone who told me that I was a nobody, and would never amount to anything. That stinging assessment of the teenage me drove me to prove them wrong.

Wow, now that's a good story! It's interesting how men who pursue and then excel in military life often have these amazing stories with those clear, defining moments that took them from a path of a loser to a life of excellence!

as long as you put your mind to it and you have faith and hope in it you’ll get there, no matter if it’s hard or easy the only way to get there is to start, no matter what anyone else says or thinks only thing that matter is what you think, the sky is the limit follow your dreams and keep pushing no matter how hard it is

I'm a 14 year old kid and this is helping me so much. My dream is to join the army and these speeches is what's gets me up and makes me push myself to my goal. I know I have 3 years till I'm able to join but I want to be prepared I want to be the strongest and fastest I can be so I exceed my goals and do more than what I think I'm capable of. These videos is what keeps me going and I just want to say thank you.

I wanted to be a seal but was blessed with blazing lack of speed and height. But what I lacked in brawn I more than made up for in grit, determination and smarts. I became an Army Combat Engineer and a Danm good one. Not everyone can become a Seal or Green Beret as it is a combination of a lot of factors. But you can be an awesome soldier. This advice was given to me by a mentor of mine who completed Buds at 28 after 10 years in the navy. Kept putting in for it until they took him. Did multiple rotations in Iraq, Afghanistan until his body could do no more. Just retired from the navy after 28 years. Still looks like he is 25 but has the wisdom of Yoda...

This…this is motivation, I’m not gonna be a Frogman but I will be a deputy sheriff. My original job plan was to be in the 72nd ranger battalion but that didn’t last long when I started to watch police tributes and realize how cool sheriffs/officers are. So I went from want ping to be in the military to wanting to be a deputy sheriff.

So many things went through my mind while experiencing this talk. I remember as I was getting close to the age to register for the draft, how incredibly divided the country was when it came to service men and women. Still, our young and strong went off to fulfill their duty. Today, with so many divisive, crazy, disappointing points of view...our young and strong still go off to defend this country and all it stands for. Even if there are many who seem to love to destroy this country by naively adopting ideas that undermine all it stands for.

"Right now, there are people all over the world who are just like you. They're either lonely, they're missing somebody, they're depressed, they're hurt, they're scarred from the past, they're having personal issues no one knows about, they have secrets you wouldn't believe. They wish, they dream and they hope. And right now, they are sitting here reading these words, and I'm writing this for you so you dont feel alone anymore. Always remember, don't be depressed about the past, don't worry about the future, and just focus on today. If today's not so great don't worry! Tomorrow's a new chance. If you are reading this, be sure to share this around to make others feel better. BE STRONG!!! GOOD WILL COME DONT GIVE UPPPPPPP!!! I BELIVE IN YOU!!!
