Work anywhere from the office of a destroyer, to a foreign port-of-call, to the heart of Washington D.C., where you could be the executive assistant to a Flag Officer. I took a class at a Community College, one of the students in my class was a Yeoman in the Navy. He was stationed in Sigonella, Italy and he said he was never on a ship.

15 i retired with. ribbons. 1 commendation, silver star commendations. so yeah, i did well. with honor to my self and my peoples and what i did.

IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT BEING A SUBMARINE YEOMAN (YNS) then don’t base your choice off this video. It’s a completely different job onboard a Submarine. You will literally go underwater for months and spend most of your time Qualifying Submarine Specific Duties then doing any Yeoman work at all.

Actually in 20 years of service, yes, i did it all. fighting fires, medical and shooting guns. And being a dignified qualified Officer of the Deck, as E5. To command the Deck.

Idk why lol “choose your rate, choose your fate” I hope to be apart of them soon. Engineering is exciting at times but is not for the weak for sure. Idc, would rather sweat you but everyday or sit in nice a/c doing paperwork…lol yeeaa

a yeoman is the person of the paper pusher, they called them, but they do so much more, i can say, Serving admirals and knowing what is going on is kinda cool. of course everything you know is clandestine. I served in pacflt so of course i knew everything that was happening in the entire pacific fleet.

again, an idiot. yeoman are everything. not tied down to a rate and gets them killed. lets remember that man who fought as a cook and fought off zeroes in the day of when japan attacked our beloved ships. A cook, fought off zeroes on his ship, because he believed in his ship and his peoples.

in today's navy, most is paperworkless, but you have to understand what a yeoman is really! A yeoman stand's at the captain's side and makes his orders happen. It is an honor.

20 years as a yeoman. I served my nation with distiction. 5 rows of ribbons. 4 rows of medals. its a matter of serving our nation!

Just wish they didnt make me have to pay back 3 grand the the navy, or keep losing my advancement paperwork FOR OVER A YEAR, or fail to update everyone's awards, or not pick people up to the command for 6 months, or the fact that 60+ people on a sub had pay issues. But they were gone by 1300 every day
