Notice that the stadium is still full when that shot goes in. For a little context, the game looked *out of reach* a few minutes before. ISU had to *really* fight hard to even have a chance for OSU to miss free throws at the end to have that prayer. And yet, not only did ISU get it close, but then the crowd got loud enough to make Phil Forte (a great free throw shooter, hence Oklahoma State had no rebounders) *miss* in such a critical moment (this happens *a lot* at Hilton, btw. More on that in a bit), and for Naz to take that shot and *actually make it!* And yes, insane stuff like this happens *quite a bit* at this stadium! Back in 2004, a below-average Iowa State team was playing #11 Texas, and up by one with 2 seconds to go, we sent an 81% free throw shooter to the line. The stadium got *really* loud in that moment, and that shooter missed not *one,* but *both* free throws and ISU won in a monumental upset! Literally a year after this moment against Oklahoma State (senior night 2015), a 15th-ranked Oklahoma squad was up 20 points with less than 14 and a half minutes to go in the game (48-28), but literally *no one* in the crowd left (hell, I was at the bar, and people were asking *me* why I hadn't left yet, and I told them why, and pointed to how the crowd itself was still full), and before the 9 and a half minute mark (less than 5 minutes of play later), ISU had gone on a 22-0 run and taken the lead (50-48)! And during that stretch, that #15 Oklahoma team that was on fire that night not only failed to hit a single shot, but actually went to the free throw line and their point guard missed *both* free throws! Less than 6 months after *that,* ISU was down 20 against Iowa, had a similar quick comeback (brought it to within 1 with more than 6 minutes still to go), but then Iowa got hot again and had a 6 point lead (82-76) *and* the ball with *fifty* seconds to go (again, even though the game looks over, *no one* leaves or even quiets down)! The game was "done," except Iowa State then forces a turnover on the inbound pass, hits a quick three, then forces a five-second violation, and scores quickly again. Before they've even hit the 40-second mark, Iowa State is within one and doesn't even need to foul Iowa on the next possession (they don't, and they get the stop they need). They then hit a floater to take the lead (83-82), and Iowa's best player, Uthoff, who had 32 points that night (which, to be fair, it was 30 points in that first half in which Iowa took that massive lead, and then somehow only *two* in that second half, in part due to uncharacteristically going cold that entire second half when the crowd was uncharacteristically loud for a team facing such an uphill battle), finishes his second half cold streak by missing a relatively open three-pointer at the buzzer and the Cyclones win! I could go on and on, but you've probably noticed the pattern at this point! Even when the game looks over, the crowd doesn't leave! They don't leave, because they've seen this team come back before. They've come back before, because this crowd continues to stay, continues to stay loud, and not only does that cause the Iowa State players to all play beyond their capabilities, but it *also* causes uncanny and unbelievably rare mistakes from the road team's players that, all mixed together, creates some of the craziest and most unbelievable sequences in all of college basketball to happen in favor of the Cyclones! *That* is what Hilton Magic is! It's a stadium full of loud, unwavering fans cheering their team on no matter how unlikely a win seems, and doing something to the minds of the players in the stadium that causes seemingly magical moments to occur! Welcome to Hilton Magic!

lol Any coach will tell you that it's the right move to make in that situation. You don't want to risk a foul (especially if he pump fakes and gets you in the air). But yes, as a player, it's one of the most disheartening things for you to turn around and see that shot go in! But as an ISU fan, it's one of the greatest moments ever to witness!!!
