Lost count of the number of fouls against him in just a single game. The ability to dominate a game at the top level even while out of shape. Skill, leadership and will to win made him the best of that generation. My favourite player and I am English. My fellow English fans may still rue the 'hand of God' goal, but Maradona was the best. There are more fouls on Messi than there were on Maradona,but the difference is that Messi can stay on his feet while Maradona cannot or wouldn't ,just to win a free kick or penalty.

Maradona constantly had to endure intentional hits, kicks, tripping, fouls to his legs that would have caused yellow cards in today's refereeing standard. I cannot believe his career lasted as long as it actually did considering all the physical abuses from the opposing sides. What a player, what a heart.

I was 9/10 years old watching Italian football every Sunday on Tv . If anything goes to show just how good he was , that Milan team was becoming a force. Beresi was one of the best CB in history . Maradona tormented him and Rykyaard . What a player , never mind the skill, he was so tough, a tank . Kicked black and blue.

Avevo 10 anni quando si giocò questa partita. Da milanista, che ha vissuto intensamente quel periodo di dominazione mondiale da parte del Milan, dico che Maradona è il Dio del calcio. Nessuno più grande di lui. Ringrazio di averlo potuto vedere dal vivo. Era il nostro più grande avversario. Oltre alle tante vittorie in campo internazionale, è proprio avere come avversario il più grande calciatore di tutti i tempi che ha proiettato il Milan di Sacchi nella leggenda.

Saw this game back in the 80s. People don't realize today just how talented Maradona really was. You have to remember he was playing in an era when there was little protection for skillul players. They were heavily kicked almost every minute. And that AC Milan side were the UEFA Champions back-to-back at the time. Maradona to this day is the greatest player for mine. He was from another galaxy his skill was that incredible.

Pelé played 12 years without the existence of yellow cards. He was out of 66 cup for an injury made for that intent. Only few cameras. Worse field, ball, preparation than Maradona, 20 years earlier, and team made only with Brazilians (instead of nationals best picks like europeans do). That's why Pelé is far better than Maradona or any other player.

Es increible la cantidad de patadas, perdi la cuenta. Pero ni con ello lo podian parar, que magia para tener ese balon pegado al pie. Ni hablar de la vision de juego, no le habia llegado el balon y ya tenia my clara la continuidad de la jugada. En mi humilde opinion el numero 1.

el futbol era distinto en esa epoca mucho mas desorganizado y los jugadores no estaban tan bien preparados fisicamente. Ese maradona en el futbol de hoy, seria un grandicimo jugador pero no el mejor de todos indiscutido. Ahora, otra cosa seria si lo hubieran entrenado y alimentado como hoy se hace, ahi sin dudas hubiera sido el mejor. Era muy veloz para su epoca, antes se entrenaba mas carga que velocidad, por eso parece que esta a otro tiempo comparado con el resto. Por eso tambien las piernas que tenian, los golpes que aguantaban y con la fuerza que disputaban el balon. Tambien se lesionaban menos.

A mi me hacen reir cuadno dicen que ese milan le gana al milan de hoy. Agarra cualquier equipo pre 2000 y te lo pongo contra el city o bayern. Se comen 6.

En realidad, no necesariamente. Si no pasás porque te hacen falta, entonces no habla bien de vos, sino mal de la defensa rival. Hacer falta cada dos por tres es de jugador que no sabe defender. Quitar la pelota es difícil, golpear el cuerpo de un jugador es fácil. De ahí mi argumento.

The defense was the best that ever existed....Baresi,Maldini,Costacurta,Tassotti,Galli...tactical brilliant, revolutionary in every way....Milan's 1987-88 defense was the absolute best as Milan only conceded 12 goals in 30 league games. And then they Toldo in the Goal...AC Milan was incredible.

Muchos hablan de números, pero la realidad que no mostraron en números fueron las faltas generadas, las jugadas relevantes, asistencias, regates, puñaladas futbolísticas en momentos claves, sanciones a los rivales, patadas esquivadas. Provocaba en el rival la sensación de que era inútil tratar de pararlo o sacarle la pelota. Maradona lesionado provocaba temor en rivales al nivel de q no lo podían dejar solo 1 metro en las competencias máximas. Manejaba el partido y la motivación de sus compañeros a niveles religiosos.

Qui in Italia dove Diego ha giocato nei suoi migliori anni di carriera calcistica, spesso sento parlare di lui da ex calciatori che hanno giocato contro in squadre come Milan, Inter, Roma, Juventus e nessuno dico mai nessuno ha mai parlato male di Maradona! What?? you can´t compare that... because maradona only won 1 interational title with napoles, and in spain no one. He only have 9 titles in his career in all his teams, messi have 35 the diference is too huge... yes the barcelona of messi is the great team ever but people forget who messi is and what he did between 09' and 14'. 91 goals in one year 73 in one season. And he is also the gratest assistant in the history with 323 maradona 240 is too much. In argentina you can see that difference too. Messi is the bigger assistant and goal scorer in the history. I am Argentinian i love maradona and ever i see a video like that i love him more, but messi rule the futbol for 10 years. To me Messi is the best sportsman of all time.

Maradona was playing in an era with much muchhh harsher environment and solely relies on pure skills. Edit: Lets not forget about the hostile environment Don Diego Maradona had to deal with every single day outside of the pitch, which heavily links to his drug addiction out of stress..

Brazilians definately produced the best. Socrates, Falcao and many countless others, but Maradona was the guy who can change a match otcome alone anytime. Skillwise and aestatics, I would not know if he really were better, when you watch matches those days, Brazilians always showed superioer skills, game and play, but of cource, in futball, that doesn not mean a win. 82 Brazil were the best I ever seen, nothing really came any close but those times, Italy and argentina were winners of world cup. 82 Italy ( Rossi and Zoff), Maradona in 86 single handedly won the world cup and took away clearly best team in Brazil

growing up on the streets of Nigeria, Maradona changed how we played football. I remember playing in a street football match alll the players of both teams turned up wearing jerseys with Number 10 printed on them.... Brillant!!!!!!!! lol
