Thanks for the vid, Dom! This was my comfort game during my college freshman year, as I moved away from home for the first time. Being a frequent Live player for the previous gen, playing this game was like stepping into an entirely new world despite the gameplay issues.

This was my first NBA 2K game. I've played this game so often that I have memorized nearly all the commentator's lines. Still play it occasionally till this very day.

My first 2k game. The first team I played with were the Pistons with Billups, Rip, Tayshaun, Rasheed and I think Ben Wallace but he might have been with the Bulls that year. Anyways, great memories.

I’m playing this rn. I still love it. 11 years later. It’s ahead of it’s time. It’s kind of clunky now ofc. But you would still enjoy it as long as you adjust to it’s controls. Nothing is game-breaking IMO. Pretty solid pretty freaking fun game all around after all these years. I played the living heck out of this game. And I’m doing the same rn. It’s so good.

Lmao. You prolly won’t read this but yeah L-A-X was The Game on PS3. I also remember NFL player Laron Landry was also one of those players of the week. Funny thing is I actually had The Game as a PS3 friend for a couple weeks and messaged him a few times when 2k10 came out. He invited me to his private online dynasty mode or whatever it was called. Also he was one of the first people I ever seen with the PlayStation Plus logo by his username.

If im not mistaken 2k13 took away the import season team which is when i stop playin it was fun to play ya custom team against ya friend team

I remember L A X!!! I always got hype when I played a hall of famer. You knew what level of player you were playing as soon as the game tipped off because they had a special icon next ti the player's online name during the game. I was ranked 523 on 2k9, 111 on 2k10, 31 on 2k11(best game ever made) ,and greatest of all time on 2k16. I reached greatest of all time at the age of 41. Unfortunately 2k16 was the last game Ive played because I have arthritis on my right thumb and left index finger. I truely miss playing with my Thunder! My username was Kenloe1935 for PS3 and imover40 when I switched to PS4.

2K9 had a bunch of gameplay and online issues, that's how I found Smoove channel too but it was for his how to effectively use Kobe video because dudes online just drove to the basketball because the game was set to pro difficulty. Even Luke Walton was going 360s and windmill dunks online due to the sliders being crazy. The presentation was the best part of the game for sure outside of KD looking like Shawn Kemp in this game.

I think The Game mentioned in an interview he was a top ranked player in Madden. That might be him on 2k too lol

If this game would've had the NBA live 10 dribbling , I would still play it today with updates .

Going back from the earlier days of this game my brother said to me that this game is the successor of nba live 08, he was very astonished. Funny, little did we know that this game is made by 2k not EA. This is the start of the rise of 2k, we were shock and very impressed with the graphics and realism back then. Good old days. Fact, this game was the first NBA 2k ever released to PC.

Steve Blake or BRoy to Greg oden was OP in this game cuz of Oden's dunk rating. Blake had a pass of like 90 so I'd cheese my opponents out and make passes through traffic to a cutting oden and spam dunks lmao

Btw Dom if you wanted to get recent footage or play the game again just download a ps2 or PS emulator, there is no ps3 or ps4 emulators, I think.

It was nigh-impossible to block dunks and anything under basket in this game. The skill moves were confusing too. Everything else was awesome though. I wish they would bring back 2k9 Blacktop.
