I was blessed to have lived the entire Jordan era because I live in Chicago and had season tickets, and when he came to our team which never won a championship until MJ, we knew he was something special immediately. Watching in person was unbelievable, he did things that amazed you, that seemed to defy all logic. And the younger kids that think today’s NBA is tougher than the MJ era have no clue what they are talking about.
@TerryT0114
@TerryT0114 6 ай бұрын
I know it, is maddening. They actually think there's defense today. I've been asked, "did they play zone back then"? An then rest their case like today's defense is harder. I'm like, it's all on KZfaq, go watch. They actually played defense in the old days. I know today's players are talented, I can see it clearly. Whole bunch of point centers that can dribble an even shoot three's. There wasn't much of that in the past, Shaq could pass good, Sam Perkins could hit some three's an there was some other guys doing some things but nothing like today. But they're playing against almost zero defense. It's honestly hard for me to watch.

@@TerryT0114theres no such thing as defense in this era. U are right 🤣 Look at what Steph is doing haha However i do think now wit the nba going back to the big man era is interesting
@WoTMike1989
@WoTMike1989 4 ай бұрын
@@TerryT0114 because I think a lot of people that grew up with a different NBA confused physicality with defense. They are different eras. I personally don’t think there’s a lot of value in comparing across eras. The removal of the illegal defense rule fundamentally changed how defensive basketball is played in the NBA and gave rise to the motion offenses of today. Shooting got better because it had to. There was no more artificial spacing that was provided by the illegal defense rule. That’s why some of the slowest and ugliest basketball was in the early 2000s when the rule was removed but it was before the NBA player base had adapted. So obviously the 80s and 90s had more physical fouling, please go watch the games back then, and then turn on a modern game and tell me which one has more guys in the paint. It’s not about playing true zone defense. It’s about the ability to play Strong side Flood defenses where the counter is cross court pass to the corner or the wing. Which is why we see better passers across positions and better shooters now because that’s who can take advantage of those defensive sets.

As an MJ video addict, this was one of the best compilation of interviews about MJ and his impact on the greats. I did not know the Ron Artest incident. The MJ call to him was solid. It reminded me when the first time Shaq knocked MJ to the floor pretty hard when he was coming in to posterize him. Shaq started to apologize and MJ said it was all good. That’s gladiator shit. MJ sits alone at the top of the mountain.

that reminds me of the John Stockton / Chris Webber story. Webber's first time playing Stockton (as a rookie) and he decided to knock him to the ground with an illegal screen. Stockton went down hard and Webber expected him to jump right up and start facing off with him, instead he casually got up, patted him on the backside and said "nice screen!" and ran back up the court! Stockton was 6' 1" 175 lbs, Webber was 6' 10 245 lbs! To this day Webber says he was one of the toughest guys he's ever played.

I knew Ron Broke his ribs but I didn't know about those runs. It made sense now how MJ got tendinitis on both knees. He freaking hurried his recovery. Ron said he would have averaged 35 points. I believe it. Here was Jordan's stats before the knee injury: In the 46 games that Jordan played before the injury, he averaged per game 25.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks on 42% shooting. Jordan's numbers were also improving as the season went on, as in his last 20 games up to the injury he averaged per game 27.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks on 44% shooting, and in his last 10 games up to the injury he averaged per game 29.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.3 blocks on 47% shooting.

@BigCityDreamz Kawhi had 2 solid years and most of the juggernaut stars were hurt when he dominated. After that Kawhi been avg like he was with Duncan. GREAT defender solid offense. MJ unlike Kawhi couldn't stop any superstar outside of Drex lol. He also was a terrible 3pt shooter. In today's game going against Giannis, LeBron, KD, Kawhi, AD, Embiid etc really gifted athletes that man is not locking up nor avg 35ppg. My mom use to work at restaurant called Gladys Luncheonette in Chicago as a cook and Jordan came there to get food one time. His limo brought him through the back. My mom didn't have a baby sitter for me and my sister so we use to sit in the dining area until she got off. She came and got me and said I got a surprise for you. She brought me to the back and Jordan was standing by the back door. I cried. It was unbelievable!! He said don't cry lil guy. Is this your mom? I said yes sir. He said shes a great cook. Be good and work hard. He signed my basketball card and my mom walked me back to the dining area. Will never forget that day. 2 weeks later we walked in for my mom to start work and Scottie Pippen was just casually sitting at one of the booths eating by his self. The lady who was his waitress(my mom's friend) walked me to him to meet him. He spoke to me and asked if I had something for him to sign. I left my card book at home that day so he signed a napkin for me.

Awesome video. I grew up in Chicago during the entire MJ era. Quick short story: I use to be a massive sports fan but not a autograph type dude… so, as much as I idolized athletes I kept it in perspective. Anyway, I saw Jordan one day while working at NBC tower in Chicago. I was going to assistant with a broadcast… Mike walks out of the building. (It’s a lot to the story) but I literally froze staring at bro. He was like 3 ft from me waiting for his car to pull up. Several people on lunch/smoke breaks noticed him they asked for autographs. He signed all of them even waited for one guy to get a pen. MJ said something funny about waiting for him to get pen… I knew time had passed cause people i walked out with were damn near 3 blocks away when I snapped out of my daze. When A.I,Bron,etc say he looked like he floated… i understand.

Facts my guy. Tell em. People forget. The people have forgotten. Especially the youngins of today, they just don't know man. But one day they gonna understand in 10-20 years when everyone starts forgetting about LeBron and crapping all over him, it's gonna happen to them too when the new younger generations come along, they'll start saying Luka or Giannis is the goat lol. MJ was literally the reason that they made the term/acronym "Goat." He's forever goated and is the goat of basketball. 6-0 in finals. LeBron 4-6. What you do on the biggest stage is what matters most. That and your rings. Most people rank the categories of importance like this in the goat debate. 1. Rings (MJ) 2. Awards/Accolades (MJ) 3. Peak (MJ) 4. Longevity (LeBron) 5. Regular season stats (LeBron). Not only does MJ win 3-2 in the 5 key categories for most people but he also wins the 3 most important categories while LeBron wins in the 2 least important categories for most fans. Not only that but MJ did it all in 5 less seasons. With an extra 5 seasons and not retirement during his prime in 92 then he probably wins 7-8 straight championships, finishes with around 41k-42k points, wins another 1-2 NBA MVP's, 1-2 more finals MVP's, few more all Defensive 1st teams. The gap between LeBron and MJ would basically be an entire Larry Bird sized career🤣🤣🤣. Instead the gap that seperates MJ and LeBron is basically a Kawhi Leonard sized career. And he's a top 15-17 player all time. So a top 15-20 player all time is what still seperates LeBron and MJ, not only is that an insane sized gap but MJ created that insane sized gap in 5 less seasons! 🤣. Technically 13 seasons since he injured his foot one year and only played 18 games that season, then only played like 17 games in another season when he returned to the game. So really, it was 13 full seasons. If you just count what he did in his Bulls years then he achieved more in 11 full seasons with the Bulls, then LeBron has achieved in 20 full seasons with 3 different franchises, 2 different super teams and 5 hall of famers. While MJ did it all with only 2 hall of famers. How people are even trying to act like it's a debate is a joke and is insane. Recency bias is nuts and all the young kiddo LeBron fans out there who are 10-25 years old and weren't even alive to watch MJ play have lost their minds and need to watch some full games of MJ's entire career to get a better understanding of what they missed, instead of just looking at MJ crying memes, watching the Last Dance documentary and watching a couple 2-3 minute KZfaq highlights of MJ and then thinking their an expert on him and have seen enough and being like "I saw a 2-3 minute highlight video of MJ, I've seen all I need to see, LeBron da goat cause of regular season stats!" 🤣🤣🤣

@camc3992 if, if, and more ifs from MJ cucks. IF he was a real athlete and as good as LeBron, he'd have played as long and not ran away to baseball. 6-0 in the finals with 2 other HOF and all-NBA players. LeBron also never lost a finals with that kind of supporting cast. You old fucks love to talk about young kids not recognizing greatness, but it's you old heads stuck in your way and arrogance because you want to say "I watched the greatest and not you". Weird ass energy. MJ NEVER won anything without a so called "super team". He had to to beat Detroit. How convenient of you to ignore all the times he was swept and out the first round before getting saved by other all-NBA talent. LeBron had to beat Boston the same way, the only difference being LeBron was good enough to take a bunch of nobodies to the finals, MJ never carried a team to the finals. His ass was out in April without Pippen and Rodman. Get your head out your old ass and recognize greatness.

If MJ didn’t have that killer mentality, didn’t trash talk . Didn’t pick on the greatest player on the other team , then he wasn’t the MJ we all know now. His skillset, mindset to win all of that is what separates him from all other players, that is what made him THE GREATEST EVER TO DO IT!!!
