this woulda been anotha Knicks-Bulls ECF classic that year. I think the Bulls woulda won in 6 or 7, but woulda been a fight just like the previous Knicks-Bulls playoff wars. Miami was not ready for that stage and it showed in their performance smh. Miami was a very good team, but def not ready the ECF that year. I think this was Ewing's last year as an all-star caliber center. After that wrist injury, he was never the same
@jaymum236 ай бұрын
No he wasn’t the same after January 1998. But he was a fantastic second scoring option to Houston and Sprewell and still a great rim protector, making magic happen in that 99 run.

this would have been the most competitive year the knicks would have given the bulls during the 90s but were robbed by the heat in the playoffs during the suspensions. Ewing was still prime before his wrist injury the following season. LJ and Houston were fresh. And they would still have veteran toughness from a steady Oakley and Starks. Lastly i think people forget they had Buck Williams coming off the bench which was a strong front court backup.
@ryanevans85666 ай бұрын
Not sure if I can back the claim of "most potentially competitive 90's Bulls/Knicks matchup" when 1) the 1992 ECSF series went the full 7 games (1 of only 2 Bulls playoffs series during the 6 title years to go the distance) and 2) the 1993 ECF had the Knicks go up 2-0, before the Bulls stormed back to take the last 4, with games 4, 5, & 6 being ultra-competitive (highlighted by perhaps Michael's most clutch offensive playoff performance in Game 4, and the Bulls pulling a rabbit out of the hat in Game 5, with BJ Armstrong's clutch 3, and the repeated stops of Charles Smith at the rim).
@ryanevans85666 ай бұрын
Having said that, I do agree that we were robbed of a CHI/NYK ECF matchup in 1997 that would have been much more competitive than the one against Miami.
@TRJ22419876 ай бұрын
Nah 1993 was the year they let it get away, that was their best chance. Their best team vs arguably the weakest of the 6 Bulls title teams, up 2-0 with home court advantage and couldn't finish the job

Subtle things about Michael Jordan that maybe some don’t notice…. Micheal Jordan always takes good high percentage shots and always has his body lined up and square to the basket #2 His wisdom…. He doesn’t turn the ball over and doesn’t beat himself #3 he has no weaknesses.. he can shoot, play defense, make free throws, high stakes and we’ve seen Jordan close out preseason games, regular season games, post season games and finals games and the moment never gets to big for him

This was the most entertaining one. All 4 games played tight and passionate, decided by 1-4 points, with great offense and defense. Jordan goes off for 51 in the opening match, Ewing gets even with this game winner. Pippen goes off in the third game in response to LJ talking trash, then in game 4 the Knicks get their first win in the United Center, denying the Bulls a 70th win and record-tying 40-1 home record, as well as holding Jordan under 30ppg on the year. It was magical and the most competitive the Knicks had ever been to the Bulls. No wonder the league office had to cook up those suspensions in the Heat series to assure the Bulls are in the Finals.
