Maybe jazz have but that’s really not the case anymore….the jazz are simply in the drivers seat 💺 They have the star ⭐️ and teams are naturally wanting in on the deal. So jazz can hold or sell and be fine either way. The jazz more then happy to have bidding wars 😅 Prefer to see jazz keep Laurie but hard to see that happening if teams pay the kings ransom.

@@knicknack4511 Yeah, I think that it would take a significant offering like you just mentioned to get Kessler. I could be wrong, but Kessler's ability to protect the rim is elite. He's severely limited on the offensive side, but 2nd in the league in blocks while only playing 23 minutes per game is impressive. For the Knicks, it gets kinda rough to replace Hartenstein. You don't want to bust your core up and Randle has little to no trade value. One option is to sign Precious to a one year deal worth exactly what Valanciunas' deal is. The Knicks would be a first apron team, but should be aloud to trade for Val at the trade deadline. That's just an idea though.

I've been saying that for quite a while. Add Lauri to OKC and they'll be damn tough to beat. Nobody can beat OKC's offer if they decide they want Markkanen. But Sam Presti (OKC's GM) is shrewd. He isn't going to pay more than he has to. We haven't heard much out of OKC lately, but it wouldn't surprise me if they swooped in at the last minute and got Lauri. I actually think that's the best place for Markkanen to go because it puts him on a team that has a great chance of winning it all next season - if he's there.

@rvalens2 This is interesting since, yes, OKC has a lot to offer from Lauri and in a sense of basketball fit it would be good. BUT he still needs to agree to resign there or they are not offering a monster haul. And Lauri has mentioned that OKC is "a city where he will take playstation with him" aka. he is not thinking very highly of it as a place to be but is too nice to actually say it 😄

@@magicofshootingstar5825 Yes, you're right. Markkanen minds his manners and is too nice to say anything bad about OKC. However, I can understand why Lauri would prefer to stay in Utah. Oklahoma City is fairly flat, gets very hot during the summer and the closest thing to a mountain is Cavanal Mountain near Poteau - 130 miles away. The Salt Lake City area is a paradise compared to that. I actually want to keep Markkanen, but he is about to get expensive for the Jazz. That's why - from a business standpoint - it doesn't make much sense to pay him $200 million when the Jazz are several years away from contending for a championship. I also question if he is going to be happy playing for a team that has no real shot at winning a title? And is he is willing to waste several of his prime years while the Jazz rebuild? Also, is he prepared to miss a lot of games this coming season as the Jazz tank? I hope the Jazz have been bluntly honest about their plans and how long it's going to take to finish the rebuild with Markkanen and his agent. That being said, if he wants to stay, I say great! How about giving the Jazz a break on your salary and signing for $150 million? That would go a long way in helping the Jazz finish their rebuild faster.

@@magicofshootingstar5825 By the way, yes, he is going to need to be willing to re-sign there. I think the best way to guarantee that would be a sign-and-trade deal with the Jazz. That way OKC, Spurs, Kings, Warriors or whomever will have him locked up for the duration of the contract. If the Jazz do trade him, I'll miss having him on the team, but I'll still root for him from afar.

@rvalens2 I doubt Lauri will give Jazz a big discount on his deal. Not because he really cares of money, he has enough of it already. But when he signed the last deal (the one that is now underway that was considered too much by many in the time of signing) he said that he doesn't need that much money but that in the NBA your salary equals your status and that's why he won't settle for less than what he asked. In the end he got I think 2-3 mil less than he was asking but much more than many assumed at that late in the summer.

Because the Jazz is not bad, it is a mediocre team and they need to be bad in order to move the reconstruction in a good direction.

The jazz with Laurie would be a good team and will still be good if they trade him. They have depth and also lots of cap space. Very interesting spot for the Jazz. Only trade a star ⭐️ if your getting a kings ransom because holding is just fine while waiting for the next window 🪟 of opportunity

For sure: Washington, nets, bulls. Around the same: Detroit, Portland, Toronto. Probably slightly better than Jazz: Charlotte. So Jazz are somewhere between 4-8

Detroit, Washington, Charlotte, Brooklyn, and Portland are probably worse than Utah. Having said that, I agree with your logic. The trade offer has to be awesome to give Lauri up.
