GOAT, not a discussion. He endured overt racism, and won, won, and won. In fact, a mid-1960's vintage Bill Russell on the Celtics of today would win it all in '23.

Rest at ease that Mr. Ryan is in good health. He was exhausted from all the appearances and very very emotionally drained. He’s great though. We will pass ur well wishes along.

his laugh was contagious , loud and wasn't shy. Racism he never lived a day like all of us with out it. It's just not as overt as it was when he was a child, teenager, adult, until he became a NBA star. So when people treated him like he was special I think he resented it. He appreciated folks who weren't deferential to him , say hello good to meet you and move on .

Great point talking about his quick jump ability. He created a warmup exercise of rim touches. 35 back to back jumps on the right and left side of the rim. Thanks for the stories.

Even while bringing the city of Boston championship after championship, Russell still wasn't totally accepted and embraced by the racist culture of the day, but he was a champion on and off the court...

Even while Bird won championship after championship he still isn't accepted by the racist culture of this day. So what. People like people like them - that they can relate too. Get over it. Russell was loved.

@@phill8005 Bird owned the city of Boston when he played. No one ever broke into his house and trashed it. When he played- The Garden was sold out. Every night. Russell won 11 championships in an echo chamber. The city of Boston didn't show him love until many years after he retired.

That racism had nothing to with people liking people like them. That virulent racism was because of his skin color, not his personality.
@phill8005 Жыл бұрын
@@clydejack1329 Skin color correlates with race and personality. And it was virulent. Last time I checked it Russel was and adored millionaire whose number is retired and is in the hall of fame, but that doesnt fit the narrative.

If more white Americans would speak this honestly about the evil of racism,we would have stomped out this evil a long time ago.blessings to all who love.

We in Boston admit the failures and stains of our past. We aren’t proud of how those that came before us behaved. That said, though racism is rampant again in America and no city exempt, we in Boston have worked to repair past sins and build a more diverse inclusive today and tomorrow. Bill Russell has been our inspiration to be a better community. Racism still exists but we work every day to make sure Boston is a colorful, welcoming and diverse city. Not perfect and our sins of the past should never be forgotten. We are all still trying to make our home, everyone’s home and a much better place. Thank you Mr. Russell. RIP. ☘️
