what bums me out most....is that they never met and talked game after they were out the league...he was even telling tony he was trying to meet among drinks or cigars to talk about their days crossing swords....and i can tell that un-had conversation cuts deep with tony...they could have been more than competitors with respect for eachother and crossed more into peers....and even tony knew...MAN....kob tryna build a bridge with me....a specialist.....class act. *The Rules changed by the NBA prevent that Defense and Defensive play we all love* Which many peope don't point out. 1950s - mid 2000s is probably best defensive basketball we will see, especially in 90s and early 2000s.

@@andylee6147 I understand that I'm with you but *the Refs enforce the rules that NBA wants and implements* it sucks because it cheapens the integrity of the game itself. Today's game has little to no hard perimeter defense Gray Payton, Tony Allen, MJ, Pippen Rodman, many great defenders (Rookies can enter into the league and have no defensive game, all defensive concepts are switches, play passing lanes to get steals, and impede the opponents progress to the basket) you don't even see challenges at the rim for blocks anymore like how 4x Defensive Player of the Year Dikembe mutombo & Ben Wallace use to do, you see a lot of *lane clear outs* This why I don't agree with analysts like Stephen A Smith who down play today's game calling it soft. *Its Soft to degree because The NBA is responsible for the rules changes NOT the players, the players just play under them* if the NBA didn't change the rules then everyone would've played under the same rules however the game does evolve as times goes on to a degree but *what was wrong with the Rules from the 90s to early 2000s nothing in my opinion* but you had *great impacts & Events like Bad Boy Pistons, NY Hardnose Knicks and the Pacers 2004 Malice in the Palace which change the NBA forever!* and that's way the rules changed but shouldnt have in my opinion.

Tony Allen probably studied Kobe’s offensive bag so much you’d think he was tryna take notes on how to improve offensively lol

4:30 - Tony: This is the greatest player I have ever played against in the world 5:19 - Jorge: Would you say that he was the toughest shot maker that you ever saw play the game? Really? 😒

I will always respect Tony Allen. I saw him give KD work like no one else which is crazy considering the size difference. I don't even think kawhi leonard gives KD the problems than Tony Allen gave him lol

The list of elite, physical defenders that Kobe had to go through proves that he’s one of the greatest scorers this game has ever seen and then taking on the challenge on the other end of the floor... talk about being relentless. 💯

I remember a segment where players were asked who their toughest defender was. Tony Allen came up a lot, yet this guy was only all defensive 6 times. Because it's really just narrative that gets you on those lists.

The consistent thing players say about Kobe is that he never gloated or talked trash even when he was dropping 81, 50, or 40 on their heads. The true embodiment of 'I'll let my game speak for myself'.

If 6’4 213 tony Allen could guard guys and have Kobe and kd say he’s the best defender they have been guarded by I don’t see why Gilbert arenas say Scottie pippen 6’9 long arms 210 and Rodman 6’6 210 couldn’t be a great defender into today’s game🙁

Height and weight don’t equal defense. With that being said, Rodman and Pippen would be all-time defenders in any era of basketball.

Bruh could you imagine how different todays nba wouod be if you could be more physical on defense like in the early and mid 2000s? That time has seen many all time greats like previous eras but imagine if all those greats had their primes in todays nba, boy those all time records and stuff would be a whole different situation
