Look at Wade, Vince Carter, Drexler, MJ, Brandon Roy, and Derozan's freshman FT%. For some reason, elite all-around SGs (RJ's archetype) have terrible freshman FT%. Based on his talent and trajectory I would expect a Derozan (minimum) to T-Mac (best) type career for him and the same reasons people peg RJ is the same reasons why all those stars I listed didn't go #2 in their drafts.

Autumn Her don’t get me wrong I think he’s a great player and I think he’s the second best player in this draft behind Zion, but out of anything in his game I’m worried his jumper will lack a bit. All of the guys you named are much more athletic than him, and most of them were never good shooters

@@johnhawthorne2201 Very good point. I hope he gets better because he has the size and athleticism to be an elite-level player. @mrvk39
@mrvk39 5 жыл бұрын
Watched all highlights - like 50 of them and saw only a handful of him going right. NBA defenses will feast on this knowledge, always forcing him right. RJ Barrett will need to develop major parts of his game like going right with his handle and becoming a consistent 3pt shooter. In other words, he won't be NBA-ready like the video suggests. However, as the video also suggests, his mental toughness and aggressiveness will get him there - his shot mechanics look good and he is aware on D and has size to be a great defender and he will improve his weakness such as going right more often. My prediction - on a rebuilding team without all-stars, he will average 16-18 pts 5-6 rebs 3-4 assists for two years but with bad %s and TOs but will break out in year 3 or so to become a dominant and fairly efficient scorer in the mold of Jimmy Bulter - a wing who can score and defend at near-elite levels (all-star but not superstar) but also acts as a secondary facilitator.

@@MaChao2 thanks bro! He is was even better than I expected in his 2nd year. His percentages ended up being pretty good - 40% from 3 and 44% overall. I think he was ahead of the curve on 3 but still need to work on finishing around the rim with right hand and learn how to draw fouls better. His D and rebounding is solid. His playmaking will probably the last area he will improve. But, also a key area to make him into an all-around all-star.

I don't really watch him, it's just the most realistic trade, Mrs Gale doesn't like the Lakers and I think their trade is weak, Kyrie probably leaving Boston so they wont want to trade their young assets anymore, so the Knicks trade for AD makes the most sense. To have a chance to pair Zion with his best friend, roommate, and teammate it could really be something special
@loganliveslyfe7
@loganliveslyfe7 5 жыл бұрын
@Clutch7 I understand they have Knox and Mitchell Robinson and I think DSJ still has some potential but it just depends on what they do in free agency if they get Kyrie and KD you are now in win now mode so you don't have time to develop so trading your young assets for AD to solidify the team would be beneficial. It would also benefit the young players to because they can then go to a team like the pels where there is no pressure to win now and grow and develop

@@loganliveslyfe7 but it by some miracle they did get KD&Kyrie that would also be an amazing program to be brought up in for them, long term wise. They could even probably develop so much faster from an arguable top 5 and top 15 (before constant injuries) player with years of experience under them. Whether it happens your way and to Pelicans or the Knicks somehow pull off the biggest miracle in sports history, they have a good situation.

Hence, him leading the NCAA in charges. His poor shooting percentage is perplexing when you consider his shooting motion. He has a lot to work on if he wants to become an all star. RJ's nonexistent right hand game is a deal-breaker. That skill should already be somewhat present by now. The Pels already had Austin Rivers who was forced to drive to the basket, while unsuccessfully trying to recapture his college outside shooting consistentcy, but being off-hand limited, his drives were easily-guardable and became a predictable crutch. Nine years later, Rivers still doesn't have an off-hand game (or outside shot). Pels better re-sign AD.

@@JD-ny3vz They can take away his left, sag off (because he can't shoot the three), and when he drives just anticipate him going back to the left which won't be hard to stop because he's not an explosive athlete in tight spaces.

64th percentile on pull-up jumpers, but 41st percentile on catch-and-shoot jumpers. 4.9 assists, 8.6 rebounds per 40 mins. There's a lot to like about RJ, but man I do wonder if his bad shot selection will carry over into the NBA. The Knicks obviously should take him if he's there & they don't trade him, but they should look to pair him with a Tremont Waters type of point guard to set up the offense and let RJ do some secondary scoring like a lot of these clips in here. He'll also be a lot better with shooting around... but the Knicks don't have a lot of that.... yet.

Okay, but you're wrong. He only uses his left hand and NBA defenders are going to take his left away and make him go right. He also can't shoot from the outside yet, he has poor shot selection, and he turns it over a lot. He is going to struggle early in his career until he develops moves and finishes with his right and improves in the other areas I mentioned.
