Miami shot 54.3% from the 3-pt. line. That is phenomenal. The Heat rained 3's down on the Celtics, who shot only 26.2% from three point land. Shooters generally need some space to toss up a three-point shot. The modern game seems to be based upon an offensive design of pushing the ball inside, then dishing it out beyond the 3-pt. line to an open stand-still jump-shooter, who fakes jacking up a shot, then passes to an even more wide-open shooter, who then has a great look at a 3-pointer. Miami did that over and over and over again. The key seemed to be their ability to drive the ball inside to begin the play. Boston tended to collapse on the driver and leave guys open back across the 3-pt. line. I'm not sure how you defend against an avalanche of made three-pointers. Try harder? Let the driver shoot and, instead, guard against him passing the ball outside?

Everyone credits the warriors for the new style of play in the NBA, but if you really look at it. The spurs destroying the heat in the 2014 finals set the stage for what the nba is today. What the warriors did was their own version of that and of course having klay and steph definitely helped. But the entire nba changed after that finals

@jakemckeown
@jakemckeown 11 ай бұрын
This is something that the commentator that was a coach was saying. The Celtics aren't doubling when they should be and are rotating late which causes them to have to collapse inside, leaving Miami's shooters wide open.

Jimmy’s numbers don’t say he had a great game, but the Celtics started to go all in on doubling him, and he showed that he’s a good enough play maker that that won’t work. They aren't emptying the bench and giving up with 10 minutes left in the game. That was depressing. Celtics offense is so stagnant that it's unbelievable. So much of their offense involves one person having the ball for most of the shot clock and then taking a bad shot. So many times you see Tatum and/or Brown just standing in a corner the whole time. They don't seem to care about ball movement and are content to simply pass it around the arc and then take a bad shot.

Iso ball lives and dies by your outside shot if you can keep filling the lanes and stop the drive. No one on the perimeter hitting his shot? Well, that's gonna be an L. Especially true if the whole team is shooting less than 30% from mid and beyond. Watching iso play is so boring, frankly.

Unfortunately the Celtics are far better in their own minds than on the court. They used to play defense but began relying on their offensive abilities. In the end great defense (meaning hard work and effort) beats great offense in the long run, because you can control effort but not a shooting slump.

And that is on the coach and his staff. Even on Brad cause it's been obvious from any seat in the Garden and around the world. Best from Croatia... @@tdot2853 lol I’ve definitely had leadership positions before. I’ve actually coached youth football for years now. I’m not gonna pretend the pressure is even comparable to Joe Mazulla, but I certainly know the feeling of falling flat in a big game, especially against an opponent you were expected to beat. In those moments, I didn’t blame the players, but I could point to specific areas or plays that I schemed poorly and/or that the players just couldn’t execute. To be at Mazulla’s level and basically tell the press “I don’t know, I just couldn’t get the job done” speaks poorly of your skills and makes your players wonder why they should trust you if you are so lacking in command.

Went a ridiculous 7 with PHI who had a 60% Embiid and playoff Harden, both series should've went no more than 5 games maybe 6 w/ Phi . But now they're finally playing some real dawgs with great coaching n getting smoked

Thanks for exposing how poor the players and coaches of the Celtics are performing all playoffs. Man; now I really missed Ime and Brad as our coach...

100% agree. That Hawks series should have been an annihilation... then the 76ers had a hobbled Embiid and it still went 7! That was ridiculous and I felt like people didn't recognize that. They only talked about Tatum's game 7 in a series that should have gone 5... Now the Heat are exposing them but this is worse than I thought.

Jaylen Brown is a real man, he spoke straight forwardly and more often than not, very objectively fair on many occasions and topics. Glad to see him give credit to the Miami Heat, the first step of conquering something is to admit it's right in front of you. ( Still think the Heat is gonna sweep them next game tho, you can tell by the body language of the whole team the Celtics are gone. )

I agree the Boston coaching has a good bit to do with the lose. Spolstra has better history and experience with his team. He also has strong support from the other coaches on the team. Boston would probably be in better shape with Ime Udoka

Celtics part was meaningless. It's his part of ring chasing from team to team. And he was a celtics nonfactor for a year.

Those aren't real "stars" just bootleg copies taken from kobe, lebron, mj, etc. that shoots 3s and have a 3 total move set to look cool and make the all star teams. Like the legends say all the kids nowadays just want to get a max contract and play video games
