In 1991, three armed men came into a Chinatown social club and shot six people execution style. Five of the victims died, but one survived. In this NBC10 Boston original documentary, a witness shares his story for the first time, community leaders react to the shooting and the FBI explains why they are continuing their search for one of the gunmen 30 years later.

Wow, this brings back old memory... 2 of the 5 victims(David & Van) were from Monterey Park, CA. They are Chinese Vietnamese, and part of a Monterey Park Vietching gang back in 80s & 90s(This was before the complete revival of LA WahChing); David(taikuong) was one of the leaders of Monterey Park/Alhambra set. I remember when Peter, Afai, and other homies returned from Boston and told us. They even said Van died last because his body was still warm when BPD went in. This was a hit because of territory and no.4. Even 40 years later, I haven't forgotten. RIP homies...

He wasn't very old then, and tho there's always a possibility he's died, I think there's a very good chance he's still alive. Everyone says its history, why bring this up? To those men who were killed and their families, their deaths are just as relevant today as they were one minute after it happened, and a man capable of evil is still living his life without any repurcussions. He needs to be brought to justice.

The guy says massacres don't happen in Boston, the Boston massacre was an actual event that started the revolutionary war that was the begining of the USA, and ironically it started from a snowball being thrown at a British soldier, crazy right, there were many reasons obviously, taxes, tyranny, but that innocent moment ignited the birth of the nation.

I who had been around alot of crazy things was petrified and completely out of my element. On the left on a table upon entering was a basket full of guns were the security guy had frisked us. deeper inside they were gambling about 10 people. I was Working 2 blocks away as a bartender that night, it was a chaotic night downtown. Whenever the chinatown gang members would come in the bar after that night, everyone would get so nervous that you could cut the tension with a knife. A year or so before that night I was walking through the little park in Chinatown and I stepped over a guy I thought was passed out drunk, later on I found out he was dead. He was killed by some gang because he would not pay protection money, he had $5000 in his pocket that was untouched. He was a Chinese business man.

I lived & worked in a major Asian capital city for 4 years. My kids went to school there. I experienced the power & influence of the saving face culture first-hand literally hundreds of times, from the seemingly innocuous (albeit obnoxious) to being dragged into labour court to defend two pages of 100% fabricated, unprovable lies by an employee & I walked away from that having to pay the guy two of the three months' salary he sued for. Corruption was epidemic & intrinsic to every aspect of life there, foreigner or national - from traffic police bribes to having to literally budget for the inevitable bribe to get building plans approved to a large institution being unable to fire a thief because their family was connected & sooo much more. The cultural differences became more pronounced as the years went by & the incompatibilities more obvious. Western values meant little to nothing. Ultimately, I was a guest in that country & they had no responsibility to cater to my beliefs so I packed up & returned to my own country. Was it a good experience for me & my kids? Yes & no. Would I do it again? Nope.

I lived right there on Tyler st in 2002 and had no idea of this before which is surprising as I read a lot on Boston true crime as before I moved into Chinatown I lived in Dorchester right near Whitey Bulgers personal grave yard under the highway. Chinatown was an odd area, during the day it was all Chinese but as soon as it got dark all the Chinese disappeared and prostitutes and crack dealers filled the streets. At the time it was clear there was some sort of understanding with the cops that it was allowed to happen. The Asian gangs had nothing to do with non asians but there were a lot of shops that operated in gray areas of weapons and bootlegging dvds and a lot of unmarked doors next to the Chinese restaurants that served alcohol after hours that people shuffled into quickly and you wouldn't want to have a group pour out of if you caused trouble.

No, it does not happen anywhere, anytime. Do not generalize it and make it a social normalcy. This happened because of gangs ties and of the criminal underworld where illegal environment and plenty of money provide the opportunities for criminals to commit their crimes. It includes gambling, smuggling, drugs, prostitution, money laundering, and all other illegal stuff.
