The o oh way this trick works is if they agreed on a queen of diamonds beforehand. The woman was in on the trick for sure. That’s my theory at least, don’t see any other way about it. There were two queen of diamond and two two of hearts. And then the card from the picture had a film on the back that let you see what’s beneath it when taking a photo. You can see the shine of the film on the side of the card and then he just uses slight of hand to get rid of the film to show the card beneath at the end.

There will be no collusion before the set, instead it is mentalism - where there is an “idea” of free choice given, but a number of gestures, objects, words and actions force the person in the moment to pick something. For example the whole background is a subtle, almost diamond ♦️ lighting setup. Shin Lim also uses very subtle wordplay like “crowned” champions, that forces the subconscious mental choice of the Queen. There may be other things that we cannot see in the background or gestures out of the focus picture that subtly sway her subconscious towards the Queen (most celebrity women do choose the Queen when asked to pick a card). Either way, it is always incredible to witness Shin Lim’s incredible magic.

So after many hours of studying this trick I have figured out how it’s done. At the start of the trick he tries to divert everyone’s attention away from the thickness of the cards themselves. It didn’t matter what card she chose because he knew which card had her chosen card glued to the back in order for him to I don’t know what the hell im talking about and I actually have no idea how he did it.

Either it was staged with Melissa, or he took a really risky route and guessed that she would pick the queen of diamonds. Rest of the performance is a lot of sleight of hand. For example, he palms the queen of diamonds and places it on top of the deck after she stops dealing cards

he has two 2 of hearts, the camera didnt catch it but he swapped the queen with the 2 of hearts. so now the queen is on top of the deck and he folds up the 2 and gives it to her. then he does a double lift to show the other 2 of hearts, the queen is under the 2 of hearts. again he does a double lift ( check at 2:51 there is a break between two cards, check his pinky) and flips it back over, now the queen is on top of the deck which he folds and puts in his mouth. after the reveal, he hides it very nicely to, notice at 3:36 you see the second card faced down and queen face side up. well he puts his palm on the face down pulls it back and puts it on the queen thats faced up. this takes great skill and lots of practice. now the first card is the faced down 2 of hearts because he didnt shuffle after the reveal and the second card is the queen that is faced up. However, I cant explain how it ends up on the blank card.

This was really amazing! I started to get into card tricks, obviously on an amateur level, so I understand certain moves that the magician can do, forces, etc., but I have no idea how he pulled that off. Very, very impressive! Melissa is absolutely breathtaking as well. I love her in Brooklyn 99!

If it takes me years to understand a little part of this trick, then shin Lim has my respect for life. Paid actor, black board, switch and remote assistant all played their parts but pin-point on the trick without a guess is out of this world. Well done Shin Lim!❤

This kind of act needs to win not singing. This act is one of a kind, only few can have this talent. SINGING? Lots of lots folk can sing, so why they need to win. Just my own thoughts

I agree. There are tons of other talent competitions with singing. America’s got Talent is a chance to show so many different kinds of talent. This is why I wanted Preacher Lawson or the sand artist to win. She was so unique and had beautiful stories

2:54 you can see he lift the 2 of heart with the palm of his hand (double lift) he actually kept the queen on the top of the deck the whole time and had 2 « 2 of heart » in his deck

Wonderful entertainment by a professional who has honed his skills to a superb level. There's no "magic," of course. Our eye/brain connection is EASILY FOOLED by those who know the trick(s). Shin is a master of misdirection and has developed his card manipulation skills far beyond belief. What we don't see, of course, are the THOUSANDS of HOURS of practice that have gone into perfecting a 2-minute performance. Well done.

Nice to see reason from time to time. Also add the fact that 1) He uses his looks and charm to captivate the audience and turn their attention to where he wants it, and 2) No doubt having a babe like Melissa in such a revealing attire works towards the same goal.

@@yoricknicholls Your #1 and #2 additions are essentially the same - it all depends on the orientation of the viewer. For me, "having a babe..." adds nothing to the performance. HIS looks and charm turns my "attention"... he could "misdirect" me anytime, anywhere.
