Ford Motor Company will build a multi-billion dollar car factory in Tennessee to manufacture its new electric F-150 truck making it one of the largest in the country. NBC News’ Priscilla Thompson has an exclusive look at the site of the future plant as nearby towns fight over who will control the surrounding area.

I'm from Memphis and this is huge for this area. It can not be understated. What's happening with Mason sounds like complete garbage though. The state didn't give a crap this whole time and now all the sudden they want to step in

Displacing Black People for profit of outside interests is one of the oldest stories in US. Disparities like this must end if there's ever a hope of economic equity.

They’ll go where they feel they’ll profit most. They’ll up and leave states once better opportunities arise as well. Tesla went to Texas, and I don’t think a state could be more Red than Texas.

Its a good idea, at first I was wondering why all these companies are on the east southern part of the United States. I figured out this is the best way to convince people that electric cars in the south is the way to go. Its a movement 🤖 away from fossil fuel energy.

That's not the reason at all. It's wages and the fact that southern states are right to work states. Car companies can pay what's considered a high wage here and still pay half what they would in other parts of the country. Taxes are less here. Nissan is in Mississippi. So far it seems they have done right by the area. Let's hope Ford does the same.

WTF! Of course the greedy Reds are trying to gobble up Mason. Mason needs to set up a GoFundMe page. I'd gladly contribute. Anything to help a worthy neighbor keep what's rightfully theirs.

I think it would be interesting to compare how many towns are operating in the red vs black and then compare that data against political affiliation data. Not sure if it is normal for townships and cities to carry debt? LOL I wonder how much debt NYC has compared to Miami? It's hard to draw comparisons against major cities because so many are blue, but it would be interesting to see the financial differences.

They won't stay in business long because 1. People are impatient and can't sit at a station for 45 minutes to an hour to charge up. 2. The electric grid in America is not up to par for all the charging of vehicles. 3. Once average people like me that make 100 thousand are less a year has to have one of these vehicles worked on they will go back to gas are walk everywhere they go.

Why do they need to pay down the debt before the plant comes? Why can’t they use the taxes generated after the plant arrives to pay off the debt?

So Ford isn’t being pressed on this? We know how this works. Ford needs to cut that check… instead of acting like they aren’t the force behind the Controller. Time to put Ford under pressure. This needs more attention!

As a shareholder in Ford I fully intend to address this at the next meeting. I would advise Mason residents to buy it least one share of Ford stock. This gives them access to Ford. I've had enough of white Christian conservatives and their racism.

Walked into a Ford dealership to buy a new pickup. Was ignored by everyone in the building. One salesman playing a game on his phone did not even look up. Ford lost a customer.

Tennessee is low cost living wages your money goes further, glad they are building jobs in USA be happy it's showing up to provide you with that unlike mine that went ugh we're going to Mexico. Job could pay 42-50 thousand dollars a year be wise with that coin.

From the looks of the town, it looks like it's poorly ran. Moral of the story, don't get yourself in a position to have to borrow money from the state, they are going to have an interest in seeing it payed back, an obligation to the tax payers who provided the funds

I live in Tipton county, one town over from mason and am very familiar with the politics there, and they have a conservative mayor and all Democrats on as aldermen. Just fyi Also, why is everything about race!?!? It's not a race thing in mason I assure you, that's a lie.
