Three men, including Minnesota Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson, were killed after their car was struck by another vehicle traveling at high speed. Among those speaking out about the devastating event are Jackson's grandfather and his former high school football coach, who previously coached all three of the young men. WRC's Derrick Ward reports.

@seseLsan , Sorry, as journalists, your first duty is to objectively inform your audience -- not to eulogize those involved. Save that for funeral coverage. . . . You see, NO car is going to come apart like that had it been traveling at normal highway speeds. Cars are designed to protect their passengers at normal highway speeds. Your reporting suggests that the accident was caused by someone changing lanes. (Yeah, she was probably changing lanes because she saw a car coming up from behind her at a high rate of speed.) No, that accident, without a doubt, was caused by excessive speed. For all passengers to perish and for the car to be so demolished clearly indicates that that car was moving at speeds above 100 mph. Dodge Chargers can easily travel at 140 mph, and, depending on the model, can travel around 200 mph. They have been known to outrun police cruisers. . . . Your reporting is a lie of omission. The audience should ask themselves why this is.

Such a tragedy. The young man wasn't a typical college football player, either. Worked full-time at a grocery store and was literally a walk-on in college football. There's 1,000,000 HS football players. 75,000 make it to the NCAA. 16,000 become draft eligible. 250 are drafted. 75 make it onto a NFL team roster. The odds and likelihood of doing what Khyree Jackson did are so insanely remote, it makes what happened all the more tragic.

Mister, ma'am -- whatever you may identify as: A comment such as yours in response to a story such as this doesn't reflect emotional or other intelligence. The car went into the trees, so yes, it's possible that the trees cut the car in half. You don't know how being hit caused the driver to react, i.e., lose control and mash the gas. Unless you're the investigator assessing the actual scene, you don't know enough to speak intelligently on what took place. The fact that you spoke anyway, and so insensitively, says more about you than the driver of the Charger, even if he was speeding. Do better.

Explain how if she was driving at a high rate of speed and the Charger was driving the speed limit, and she hit him from the left rear with the right front of her car, how there was such little damage to her car. It's easy to explain. Almost certainly they were both going at a very high rate of speed. They came up behind a slower moving car. She tried to move over and caught the rear of the Charger sending it out of control. Or the Charger tried to move over in front of her. Either way, same effect. They knew each other, had been partying together, and were most likely racing each other.
