ABOUT CHICAGO FIRE
From renowned Emmy Award-winning executive producer Dick Wolf ("Law & Order" brand) and co-creator Derek Haas, the writer behind "3:10 to Yuma," comes Season 8 of "Chicago Fire." The family inside Firehouse 51 knows no other way than to lay it all on the line for each other. Capt. Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) leads the Truck Company and brash Lt. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) runs the Rescue Squad. The firehouse also includes Battalion Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker), a fireman's fireman. Paramedic Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) returns alongside seasoned veteran Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Randy "Mouch" McHolland (Christian Stolte), as well as resourceful firefighter Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo). Completing the team are dependable squad member Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso), paramedic Emily Foster (Annie Ilonzeh) and the newest addition, candidate Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende).

I think the reason why its so deeply emotional is because it's basis is in reality. Firefighters are actually fighting against death and sometimes they really do die. We also know that there is an assumption that there is a camaraderie between firefighters that serves to keep them safe. A bond of brothers and sister in arms.
@awesometacularhero

Bella Rayne Right? You just unexpectedly gave me another reason on why I love the shows of Chicago Med and Fire and P.D. so damn very much. Part of what you said is so true, that a lot of doctors and nurses and paramedics and firefighters and cops, are doing all they can to keep us safe and protected, especially right now with the pandemic of the coronavirus among all of us all over the country and the rest of the world, dealing with this pandemic as well, and I cannot imagine anyone losing a doctor or a nurse or a paramedic or a firefighter or a cop, because that particular doctor nurse paramedic firefighter or police officer, could either be at a family member or a friend, like a best friend or a close friend or a really good friend or a family friend, that any of them could probably know that they could die doing their jobs to keep everybody else safe, especially during this hard and tough time with the pandemic of the coronavirus all over the United States and the rest of the world, that even though this show is based here in America, Boden makes a really good point, by asking all of his fellow paramedics and firefighters, a very important and very powerful question, and that very particular and very specific question is, who will remember all that he and his firefighters have done for Chicago, once they are gone? I also think that question applies to, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, doctors, nurses, and cops, that I think a lot of them ask themselves that question at one point or another, who will remember their work, after they are gone, meaning like, who will remember all that they have done to save other peoples lives, and catch criminals and put the criminals behind bars like in jail, like serving their communities, and make sure everybody around them is safe and protected, after they either quit or retire, or unfortunately die, while trying to do their jobs, seriously, who is going to remember what either he or she has or will have done to keep people and communities safe? Now I realize that this question doesn’t just apply, to any paramedic or doctor or nurse or firefighter or cop, I think it applies to anyone, who might begin to ask themselves this question at one moment or another, as I think that we all ask ourselves that question every day. I mean, whatever happens next, what do you think about this question that we may begin to ask ourselves at one moment or another?

All the 1C shows are EXTREMELY well acted, but this one scene. This is one of the ones I will point people to when they want to see top shelf acting in a TV show. This made me as emotional as any Marvel or DC movie or show. I haven't gotten this emotional since I don't even remember. Joe Minoso and Yuri Sardarov deserve on Oscars for how well this episode was acted.

I agree, Otis was an easy character to route for. The episode Two Families was the first episode that I saw of Chicago Fire(at the time it premiered, I was a college senior so tv watching during the week was a rare thing). I really enjoyed Otis recording interviews for the podcast, especially him saying what he was thankful for at the end. Co-creator Derek Hass even said that writing the death of Otis was pretty tough, since he and actor Yuri Sardarov( Otis) had worked on a movie together years earlier. However, he felt it was time to re-enforce just how dangerous being a firefighter is and hence someone had to die.

I know this is a tv show, but as a fellow firefighter my self, i know the pain they are surffering as i lost my best friend who i grew up with in a factory fire 2 years ago. We were both firefighters and doing search and rescue when a flash over occured and he just stopped breathing and was never revived, he ended up dieing in my arms, it was the hardest thing i have ever gone through in my life. The pain never dissapears fully but that little bit of pain that i still suffer i know is the memories that we made and the things i will cherish about for the rest of my life.
