@@pantloaded the first time I drove an NC the boost in power between it and the previous versions was the second thing I noticed. But the first thing I noticed was the increased leg room below the steering wheel and expanded visibility through the top of the windscreen, due to the lower seating position.

😊I'm driving my 4th Miata, a 2016 ND Club. I've put 100,000 miles on it in 2 years, and drove my earlier cars just the same. Probably like you, I still gobble up any info regarding these cars wherever I can (and sometimes rewatch, lol). I love the MX5. All years are great choices, but sport suspensions (or aftermarket) and LSD will greatly enhance your experience. I was tempted to get something quicker, but the choices were all much heavier, poor mileage, didn't handle as well, etc.. I appreciate the lightness and nimble handling and the ability to easily control oversteer. Very cool to have a Corvette owner appreciate the MX5.

I think they're the best value and the most livable generation. I looked at heaps of nice NAs but then realized the NC fitted me better and has the nice stuff for touring and year round use. Parts cost more than for the original shape but they're plentiful.

I’m so sorry, but I forgot about your video and posting on it previously. So, I will share a little bit of my experience selling my Miata - if that’s okay with you. I listed my Miata on Autotrader (Autotrader 2007 Miata For Sale) (O.C. Ca. AutoTrader) two days ago on Thursday afternoon for 12k. I had multiple offers and sold it for 14k in less than 48 hours - it sold yesterday, Saturday. Each of the offers came from people who had previously owned a Miata. And since yesterday, my stomach has been in an uproar because I’m now seriously wondering if I should’ve sold it. The buyer, a very nice older gentleman who’s a Corvette owner, gave me a deposit check and will pick up the car on Tuesday when the banks open after the Labor Day holiday. Emotionally, I thought it would be a piece of cake to let this car go. I wasn’t even thinking in those terms of it being NOT easy. For crying out loud - it’s ONLY a car! Right? Yet, the emotions I have connected with this little roadster have surprised me. In December, I’m retiring to my home in Palm Springs, and I only have a two-car garage. I’m keeping my Lexus and Tacoma. Anyway, this has been one of the toughest decisions I’ve had in a very long time. Maybe, I need to tear up the deposit check - unbelievable emotions tied to that little car, huh? Crazy! Well, I’m sorry for the long post here - maybe this writing is meant more for me than for you. I work at a Mazda Dealership in VA and I was having the same personal fight- The NC seems to get a lot of strong opinions and I work around the ND all day! For a while there it was probably going to be the ND 2021 we had on the lot- but I found an insane deal on a 2008 NC Grand Touring, and because I’m a Mazda employee, I get tons of stuff at cost so I went NC, I can’t wait to mod it out!

I had the front latch cover vibration/rattle. I put the soft 1/2 of velcro between the cover and plate and that solved the noise

I just test drove the 2021 Mx-5 at the dealer when I got the oil change special on my NC, and it felt almost too precise. It would be very easy to over-correct in a sharp turn. I may just be a little prejudice, or that I have just gotten used to the fantastic steering of my NC, but I would never pay anything close to the sticker price of $35,000 of the ND. Besides, I abhorr the styling of the ND. No, my NC will be with me till I meet my maker.

Thanks. And how long have you had your miata? The reason i ask is you may have more comfort pushing your old Civic harder than your new miata. My vette's will snap over steer if given a bit of to much throttle mid corner. The miata can't even at almost WOT. The miata s driver seat is almost perfect at telling you what the rear end is doing. Your civic may have as well, but many cars don't. The feedback in the steering wheel is great, as well as your civic might have been, but again many cars are not. In my opinion, that is what makes the miata so great and confidence inspiring. But, i dig a lot of civic SI's!!

@@maintainersgarage yea i have the 97 hx. not the best engine in there but cornering is great regardless. eventually i will k swap the thing seeing how light the car is. weight wise is about as much as the na miata and this thing while a 2 door is a 4 seat car. kind of crazy. i have had the nc for about 3 months now. not that long but enough to get a good feel for it i feel like. i should have gotten sticky tires vs the all touring i went with but it does ok. the steering in the miata is really really good though. its just the handling i cant really tell much of an improvement from the civic at all

@@orozcocris93 i totally get it. I had a newer civic base as a rental and the handling was very good. Definitely get better tires and mire seat time!! Autocross or hpde are options too! And i dig the 90's civics!

I am long winded, but I will give a direct answer and then follow up. Ok, I am guessing the 04 vette is the base model and NOT a convertible. So, the 04 vette would be my choice. The ONLY reason is actual physical space inside for the driver/passenger and hatch area. I feel a little cramped in the passenger seat of the miata and the trunk is MUCH smaller on the miata. IF the 04 vette is a vert, then 09 Miata PRHT, I don't like the look of the c5 vert and flappy roof. If the 04 is a Z06, vette. Simple as that NOW, long reply... I have had 3 different c5 vettes and currently own a 2005 c6. My wife owns the 08 PRHT. What are you going to do with the car? Ever gonna autocross or do HPDE/trackday? Are you just gonna street drive it, but that includes canyon/mountain roads? I might change my answer given more data. The roar of the exhaust on the vette is nice, but the steering feel is great on the miata. The build quailty/fit and finish on the miata is better, but the TQ in the vette means you don't always have to wind out the engine. ALSO, If you don't mind the soft top vert, S2000 is the car that I would pick instead of the 04 vette or 09 PRHT. The S2000 is EXCELLENT. I almost bought one, I just don't like the soft top. Just hard to find not ragged out and not over priced. The Z3 is another good option if you like the flappy roof, just not as reliable or cheap to maintain as the S2000, vette, or Miata. So this is going to be my fun/local businss trip vehicle while my wife and the kids run around in a Toyota SUV. Not going to be a track car since I don't have the time, but will be a canyon carver at times - and also take some 4-6 hour interstate trips. I plan on holding the car for 10-20 years so I expect the C5 might actually see appreciation over this time especially since I'll only be driving it 1 month out of the year. I've heard reliability of C5's is pretty solid and aftermarket suspension tuning is available. Not up to Miata reliability but not far-off so I hear. I'd get a manual coupe - not a rag top for sure. S2000 I hear is awesome and probably the best investment, but I hear they're harsh on road trips. I hear fuel economy of the C5 is as good as the miata - is that true?

@Rob B You are welcome. Ok, I am getting an idea of what you are aiming for now. On the c5 MPG, you can get 27 MPG on the interstate running 75-80 mph. The gearing is MASSIVE. On city streets if you keep your right foot light, you can get 20 MPG. Driving it like you stole it will get you 13 MPG on the street and 20 MPG on the interstate. And reliability is very good on the c5, I would say on par with the NC miata. The main issue is the crank pulley bolts coming loose and needing to replace the crank pulley. Which is not a hard job and I did a video on that. The other thing is the transmission is bolted directly to the diff. That means a clutch job is about $800 in labor alone. But, the drivetrain is rock sold. My opinion, the stock leaf springs are very good, change the shocks with DRM bilsteins for $500 and upgrade the sway bars and you are done. I did MANY track events on that setup and it was very fast! The steering feel in the c5 can be numb. I got use to it very quickly and a good alignment can help a little. But, that could bother you. And the stock seats have slop in them, so spirited driving can make you think the car is loose when it is the slop in the seat. What else you got?

The NC miata was totaled in may 2021. Up until then it was perfect,only time it failed was a dead battery. Very reliable and ok to work on. Engine bay is a little cramped. 9.2 outta 10 would recommend!!

I don't own a golf club, but online they are at least 40 inches long. Trunk is approx 31 inches, so based on that, no a driver won't fit

Patrik, I have had no issues of rust. But, here in Atlanta we almost have 0 salt on the road. So that helps. I would check all the weather stripping around the doors, roof, trunk. And make sure the drain holes are clear

I daily drove my 2010 phrt for 3 years .I loved it . Bought a new 2019 Nd rf and still not sure I like it much more than the nc . The nc is one solid under rated car . Only have 1800 miles on the Nd so not as one with it yet . I went to buy a a used 2015 vette with z51 pkg and ended up with another Miata.

I have the 2010 exact model of your car, color too, and I love it! The only difference is the 2010 model has the “Homelink” garage door opener, but I can tell you it has never worked. I too carry my extra garage door remote on me for that purpose. It’s ok. Thank you for enlightening me about the lock out switch in the trunk. I was unaware. Great review. What is color correction polish? Do you get it at the dealer? I use F11, which does a decent job to make the blue mica pop.

It is using abrasive compounds and abrasive pads to correct or polish the clear coat. You end up removing super thin layers of the clear coat to remove swirl marks, water spots, etching, and other imperfections in the clear coat to make the paint look better. I used m105 and m205 and i think an orange and yellow pad with a HF machine. I did a video on it, but be warned I decided to wear some short shorts!!! Light steering is a subjective feeling. I don't find it light, it is weighted well and good size( thickness) steering wheel in my hands
