We just adopted a rescued Plott hound. We are getting him this Sunday. He was emaciated, lost his fur, was found in a small cage, on a boat dock, in the Texas sun!😡😢😥! He was born in February and is still just a puppy. I cant believe how monstrous humans can be to any furbaby! My husband was stationed at Fort Bragg and we now live in Michigan. I think it's kind of neat that we our getting a N.C. state dog! We will definetely be spoiling our new furbaby when we get him. Hes a brindle

My brindle plot hound is the best thing I brought out of Western North Carolina when I left. I love him so much.

We have one. Shelter find as a puppy sent from down south. Didn't know he was a plot until I saw them online. He's the best dog I've had since a golden retriever back in the 70's. Sweet, smart, brave, kind, protective. Perfect mix of personalty. Goofy and almost too lovable. I dread him getting old.

I used to own a Plott. What an amazing dog. Needs serious space, to be happy. I'll always remember playing with him; he'd do this side to side thing like nothing I've ever seen before. This German Shepherd one time was getting all upset, because my dog would literally dance circles around the shepard. It was the funniest thing. To be honest, I think it could've took the shepard in a fight. Good with children

My first dog as a kid was most likely a Plott Hound, or a mix. She weighed about 40 pounds and was all brown, had floppy ears and had a white star on her chest and her neck and had just a little bit of white on her left rear foot.

Unknowingly...we got a Plott. I had no idea their rich history here in NC..many don't. My female is now 1 yr old and started tracking aling my backyard and front...not sure what's she's tracking but her keen sense of smell is remarkable...every night now she cries to go out..and it's due to her knowing something is out there..but what? Coyote..racoon..bear??? Scares me! Anyway...she's very wild...excitable...rough..but so sweet and loving..she is so strong also. My dilemma...i dont hunt...im an amputee and can't hike or run with her and she needs the constant exercise. I let her run the backyard daily as we are fenced...she doesn't try to escape..yet. I want her to calm down but don't know how....shes a lot to handle for me and very wild around my old Great Dane Pitt....too wild. Any suggestions would be great!! I truly love her but she is not living up to her full potential...she is crate trained and seems to be ok with that...I just want her more socialized with family including my disabled child. Is there hope???

Oh my! at 3:12 that picture of the dog on the right looks just like my Trina what she looks like now at 8 months old. Do plott hounds have medium length soft silky smooth hair that the water just seems to run off and web feet?

I've heard great things about the Plott. But I've read that two males cannot be kept in the same kennel because they will fight (heard the same thing about the Chesapeake Bay Retriever). I've even read that if three males are kept together, two of them might even kill the third. How about it, you Plott owners--what has been your experience?

I had to euthanize my Plott about 3 years ago. He suffered from Mucopolysaccharidosis. All his life he was mentally retarded, had a massive overbite, his face looked a lot different from a regular Plott, and his tongue was so big it never fully fit into his mouth. At age 6 years old he lost his site and his heart and liver began to fail. I decided to euthanize him because he was suffering so much.
