Likely one of the most recommended (and highly traffic'd) overland trails in North Carolina is Old NC-105 (Linville Gorge). If has become a bit of a joke in the off-road groups, however, Im going to say one thing... it's a. great trail for beginners, or if you want stunning views and epic campsites in the Pisgah National Forest.

Well offroaders like to say they are offroading but the trails all have names or numbers so the are or were a road at one time. I live in NJ which is the most densely populated state but we still have unpaved roads.

I know 105 is the subject of a lot of jokes, but I really like it up there. As always, great job!

@@ADVENTURUSS Is it strange to assume you were driving? Either way whoever was driving was way inappropriate for the road.

@@ScrabblerVid about 2 minutes into the video, I actually show who was driving. Regardless, we never topped 35, so I’m not sure what you mean by inappropriate for the road. I am very familiar with the area and I know to respect the risk of oncoming traffic, campsites and wildlife.

This has been on my list for a while, because I feel like it's just one of those trip you have to make to say you've done it. But the views are great and it seems like a great quick weekend location.

Yeah, as you can see, the whole thing can be done in about 45 minutes… but yeah, I have a few camping spots marked for excellent views and a nice weekenderlander kind of thing. Waterfalls, hiking, and killer views… it’s def worth the drive for a weekend!

I agree… it’s nothing crazy… other than crazy beautiful, not too far from other things. Makes for a great camp spot in the winter time especially.

Better idea: get off the couch and go see it in person! Haha! The entire series of these vids are going to be and have been a GoPro on the bumper so people can see the trails from a Simple and straight-forward perspective. Other vids on the channel (not in this series) aren’t filmed in the same way. Thank you for watching at least a little bit of this one, and commenting because that actually helps the channel grow.

@@ADVENTURUSS I have really been lackadaisical about my adventures this year. I'm not in love with my current rig. I'm not in a position to replace it. There's no trail or place I'm really excited to check out. It's just been "one of those years" for me. Hoping to get back to it soon with a new build and new plans. Going to check out new vehicles this weekend.

This road is not a trail. It’s name shouldn’t be spoken on the internet. Publicity from “overlanders” and desperate content “creators” has terribly affected this once bucolic place. KZfaqrs are definitely one of the reasons we can’t have nice places.

You’re right…sort of. It definitely isn’t a ‘trail’ but rather a maintained gravel road. The rest of your comment doesn’t exactly align. Firstly, publicity from KZfaq especially from one’s you may deem as ‘desperate’ wouldn’t come close to the reach of many Facebook groups and other outdoor enthusiast organizations. In fact, one such group is where I found out about it after moving to NC from another state. Since then, I have explored the area 4 times, camping 2 of the 4, and cleaning up other peoples trash every time… on every outing. Now, I’ll agree that most people don’t do that kind of thing, but I’d also argue that you’ve asked people, likely in a group, where you should wheel. If not, and you feel that this ‘desperate KZfaqr’ is ruining the outdoors for everyone… please feel free to comment further on this video, watch the 6 other videos in the series, or, if you’d really like to make an impact, I’ve got a trail cleanup ride in Feb that you’re welcomed to join.

There are lots of videos on KZfaq just about this road. I wasn’t trying to paint you all with the same brush. You’re right, FB and other social media groups have probably had a more detrimental effect on the mountains than KZfaqrs have. I have never asked anyone about where to wheel because I never go off-road. I just use roads like this one to access campsites and trailheads. I bought an Atlas of NC County maps over 40 years ago, almost all of the roads are included in it. Thanks for helping to clean up camp spots and mountain roads, l carry extra trash bags especially when I’m going to camp and I do appreciate people who do the same. Things have changed a lot just since dispersed camping became overlanding and roads became trails. Many people don’t have a leave no trace ethic and the forests and forest roads are showing the wear and tear and trash. I guess I am a little salty about people continually talking about and recommending the same handful of roads and places. I am an old and you know how they can be. Thanks for inviting me to join your cleanup, I won’t be able to because I’m not able to get around like I have in the past. ⛺️

@@mtnman3MTA3 all good, good sir! I have tried to grow this channel with tread lightly principles in mind as I, like you, am really tired of people hitting the trails without the understanding that it may one day not be an option. I am working with the people in my sphere of influence to wheel responsibly, leave the trail better than we found it, communicate, educate and include others in our efforts. In my short time living in NC, I have already seen many trails closed… but we’re out there doing our part to try to keep them open for as long as possible! Thanks for watching!
