Thank you for the kind words. Believe it or not, I am not a teacher. I have just been helping nursing students with the NCLEX for 17 years. One of the students asked me which strip should they check first if given 4 strips? I did not know the answer. So, it took me 3 weeks to put this together! Ask and ye shall receive .... thank you for allowing me the privileged of helping you!

Thank you for posting this! I'm in my last semester of nursing school and currently studying cardiac. As fast pace as the lectures are, often times I find other resources to get more in depth clarification on the topic at hand. Your video was on point and precise. This will help me on our upcoming exam and more importantly on the NCLEX. Once again, many thanks!

Second-Degree Heart Block In this type of heart block, electrical signals between the atria and ventricles are slowed to a large degree. Some signals don't reach the ventricles. On an EKG, the pattern of QRS waves doesn't follow each P wave as it normally would. If an electrical signal is blocked before it reaches the ventricles, they won't contract and pump blood to the lungs and the rest of the body. Second-degree heart block is divided into two types: Mobitz type I and Mobitz type II.

THIS VIDEO, is by far the best and easiest way to understand basic EKG strips in my opinion. Watched your video and took notes at the same time. Re-watched it following through the notes I wrote down. I can safely say that I understand strips a lot better now. I kinda got stuck between the differences between SA and AV blocks but I hammered it through my head using your video. Although I'm only taking the PN exam, I heard they still ask you some questions about EKGS. Thank you very much!

I do a lot of tutoring for the NCLEX and someone asked me, If I get 4 EKG strips, whom should I see first? This is how this video came about. I would always pick V-Tach or V-Fib. I have not taken the NCLEX since 1997 but I do keep everything current and have a lot of success with tutoring. It is on your level because it is on my level. :0) I learned something putting this together.

Yes. There are going to be verbal errors time to time. I did not want to redo the whole video because it takes approx one hour to put together a 3 minute video. This is why you don't see much info longer than 10 min about the NCLEX on youtube. So, try to get passed any verbal errors and sorry for the inconvenience.

Third-Degree Cont.... On an EKG, the normal pattern is disrupted. The P waves occur at a faster rate, and it isn't coordinated with the QRS waves. Complete heart block can result in sudden cardiac arrest and death. This type of heart block often requires emergency treatment. A temporary pacemaker might be used to keep the heart beating until you get a long-term pacemaker.
@PassNCLEXToday
@PassNCLEXToday 11 жыл бұрын
First-Degree Heart Block In first-degree heart block, the heart's electrical signals are slowed as they move from the atria to the ventricles (the heart's upper and lower chambers, respectively). This results in a longer, flatter line between the P and the R waves on the EKG (electrocardiogram). First-degree heart block may not cause any symptoms or require treatment.

Third-Degree Heart Block In this type of heart block, none of the electrical signals reach the ventricles. This type also is called complete heart block or complete AV block. When complete heart block occurs, special areas in the ventricles may create electrical signals to cause the ventricles to contract. This natural backup system is slower than the normal heart rate and isn't coordinated with the contraction of the atria.

You are very welcome. I was tutoring someone and they asked "If I have 4 strips on the NCLEX, which would I see first?" I did not know but told her I would look it up and ......... there you go!~ I have been an RN since 1997. I am not a professional instructor and perhaps this may be why you can understand this so well. To teach something, you must speak in terms people can understand!~ :0) My absolute pleasure .....

I had a sinus arrhythmia with no significant abnormalities what does that mean?
@PassNCLEXToday
@PassNCLEXToday 4 жыл бұрын
@@johnnyflores1978 arrhythmia means an irregular heart beat. No significant abnormalities means nothing is wrong. Meaning: you have a irregular heart beat but don't worry about it. 💖

@@johnnyflores1978 it could very well be anxiety yes. Take care of yourself with that as well. Anxiety gets worse as we age due to more and more life stressors. You may want to see a doctor for your anxiety. It can be dangerous to self medicate.

Thank you Kristin it took 3 weeks to make because one of my students that I tutor asked if she had a choice of 4 ekg strips on the nclex, which should she pick? Not seeing the strips myself, I would venture to guess and MI strip or a V- fib or V- tach but your not going to know how to pick this strip out if we do not start from the beginning ....... Glad to be of service. Be blessed in your endeavors.

It will be Vetricular Tachycardia that will lead to the patient getting a cardioversion but in answer to your specific question think about it. A heart block would always take priority over beating too fast. Right? Also, for the NCLEX a third degree heart block leads to an MI. Listen to it again my friend. You will need it for when the nclex gives you 4 strips and says "Which takes priority" They show just strips no explanation. Listen to 49:50
