In South Korea entertainment industry most companies have contracts were you "break even". The company pays for your dance, vocal, and other classes to better your talents. They will also pay for your dorm and meals while training. If you debut you have to earn enough to pay back all of the debt accrued in your trainee days. Once you "break even" it then depends on which company the idol signs with as to how much of the profit they actually get. Of the "Big Three" entertainment companies (YG,JYP,and SM) the ratio is 60/40. 60% goes to the company and 40% to the artists/idols. Big Hit is one of the rare companies that split 50/50. If you never debut you still have to pay back the company the money or they take you to court as breach of contract. Most contracts last 7 years. As to NCT it is an SM boy group that as of 2019 has 21 members. NCT 127 is based in Seoul South Korea and has 10 members.(Member Haechan is sitting out the Japanese part of the tour due to a broken leg.) NCT Dream is an age based sub unit once a member turns 19-20 they will graduate into 127 or another sub unit. NCT U is based on who will fit the song best and rotates on members. WayV is the groups Chinese label for NCT members that are promoting predominantly over in China. The members consist of different nationalities but all can speak and sing in Chinese. Just as all must know Korean as well. Ten(debuted in NCT U and WayV)is known to speak at least 5 languages. Hope this helps a little bit.

The thing about kpop idols not getting paid that much is true. Also most of the non korean members (chinese, thai, etc.) get even less paid. Don't know why but it's just as sad as true.

Now that you have heard the English version of "Regular," you should check out the Korean version and the Mandarin Chinese version. If you watch the MVs for the Korean and Mandarin versions make sure to look up the lyrics for both of those songs, because even though its the same beat and the same title, the lyrics are different for all 3 songs. If you look up the lyrics for the Korean version you will discover that the lyrics for the English version of "Regular is almost opposite of what they are talking about in the Korean version. That's why the album is called "Regular Irregular." The English version is what I would describe as the cocky version of the song and it hits on the aesthetic of what appeals more to an American audience. The English version talks about being famous and having lots of money and still not being satisfied until they possess all the riches and fame. However, the Korean version is what I would call the humble version of the song. The Korean lyrics talk about how they are constantly working hard and are never satisfied with the end result and how they hope to have the success that they always dream of, etc. -- which is what appeals more to a Korean audience. The Chinese version of the song also has different lyrics. The Chinese version is sung by NCT's Chinese sub-unit called WayV. You should really take the time to see what makes the 3 versions so different, besides the fact that they are in 3 different languages. Its really interesting to see how 3 songs can be created in 3 different languages using the same beat and feel, and yet have completely different messages. It just goes to show how diverse the music industry is and yet still so similar. :D

yeah, there’s lots of members but they don’t really promote all together as 21 (atleast not yet) but they have different units within the group nct that promote. there’s nct u (the 7th sense), nct 127, nct dream, and then there’s a chinese unit called wayv...

Most companies have their groups pay them back everything they paid for them during their trainee years. Nct is from SM and they don’t do this anymore. Normally the artist gets 10% of what they make, but for overseas promotion it’s 70%. NCT promoted a lot in America and Japan last year, so you can say that they were getting the bag on a regular when they released this lol

7th sense was NCT U, NCT 127 is a different unit of the NCT group (they are the ones featured inJason Derulos video) They also have NCT Dream and NCT 2018. It's difficult to explain how the whole group works with all the units, some units exchange members with each other and stuff. There are videos explaining NCT as a group with all the units. It's worth watching to understand how the group works better

I must say a lot of group works really by passion because they don't get paid a lot. There is a group that debuted in 2015, I saw that they had their first salary in 2018. And they do quite good . But if a group become really popular they will earn more but when a group who come from a little company never become extremely popular they are not getting paid a lot or even not at all. All idols male or female leave all together in a dorm before they debut and even after. At the beginning you should watch the tiny dorms they have for like seven people and more. And later with the yaers and the popularity the companies move you in bigger dorms until some groups decide to live apart from each other. Idols work so hard, more than anyone and get paid so little, they really do it because they love what they do. A trainee( to become idol) who still go to school said that when he don't go to school he practice 19 hours a day and even when he go to high school every day after school he goes to practice.

Korea has different companies and that's where all these idols debute from. Bighit, SM, JYP, YG, KQ, CUBE, etc. And it depends on the company how much they get paid. If it's a popular company like SM or Bighit then they do great paid well. Nct is from SM so they all get paid well and they even have foreign members like mark is from Canada, Johnny is from Chicago, Yuta is from Japan and Winwin (he is not there in nct 127 now, he is in wayv which is a Chinese nct sub unit) is from China.

when idols get paid it mostly depends on each company that the group is under. a lot of the time the company keeps the bigger percentage of the income but likei said, it all depends on the company.

Well first it depends on what company and how many members. Honestly its a lot. But simon says is pretty lit

Well basically in kpop industry the companies pay for all of the artist expenses for the time they remain under the label. Big companies artists or groups get paid almost since the beggining because they get to have some success since they debut, unlike smaller companies that usually have to wait for the recover of the investment they made into debuting a group. So yeah most of the groups get paid from little to nothing until they get to gain some popularity but it's not the same in all the cases as I said large and known companies do pay their artist a certain percent of the gaining since the very beggining.

When a group debuts naturally the company needs to accrue back all the money they spent for trainings, dorm, food etc, but when an idol group becomes famous that’s where their money comes in. So yeah they only paid a little the first 2-3 yrs of their career if they become big thats a totally different story.

In kpop industry (but not only) most of groups have some "slave contracts" which means that's in their first years of debut they can be paid only 0-2$ per day, out of the fact that entertainment feed them, they give them accommodation etc..

No.....wrong, they chose to make a english versions of their songs (which was during their US Tour) so that it can be more understandable for some of ignorant americans who are either too lazy or can’t mentally learn a foreign language! They were being very kind and considerate knowing allot of international fans can’t understand their music half the time, which is why they mix english with kpop music so everyone can at least understand semi what they’re trying to say in their music!

Korea used to have a lot of what they call "slave contracts" where they'd make the artists incur all this debt having to pay for different parts of promotion for their music and didn't even show amounts and what was being taken out of their pay. It has gotten better - I don't think they do that as much anymore if at all. Though I will say that they get paid based on who is featured singing etc in the song - so revenue isn't evenly split among group members. I will say that they work kpop groups like dogs - that's still an issue
