Lucy Wairimu got married at 15 to a man twice her age. He was 30. The man start abusing her immediately he took her to his house. Of the many wounds he brought her, Lucy remembers of how he would bring another woman in the one single room in Kayole. He would force her to watch as they did it...all in the name of teaching her how to please him.

Battered woman syndrome is why women stay in abusive situations. It is a sinister conditioning that leaves you thinking that you are at fault and deserving of the abuse. It is so ingrained in our culture to the point another woman will ask you what you are doing to encourage the abuse.

@ times in a problematic and abusive marriage, the best option is just leave. I left with my two kids and filled for divorce when I could afford. Am a proud single mother of well educated children. He is still marrying.... God plus you are enough to face and overcome any challenges.

Women,get empowered to avoid being at the mercy of such a devil.If Wambui's mother did not have so many children she would not have removed them from school to get employment to help the younger ones.If Wambui finished school she would have made better choices in life.Her abusive husband could not have followed her home with his stupid new wife.There is Karma.All the evil the did will go back to them.God is the avenger.
