Prime Time takes a tour of SECMOL campus in Phey village in Leh which has gained worldwide fame for its practical educational system being imparted in a remote region. Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL), which was founded in 1988 by a group of people from Ladakh now has several students enrolled in its boarding school. Students manage the entire infrastructure and facilities, prepare food and voluntarily assist in the running the establishment. Volunteers from all over the world come to assist in teaching students. (Audio in Hindi)

I know, but since majority of the population still have this need and desire of bragging and showing off in society. People cannot imagine not becoming doctor, engineer, lawyer IS officer or working in Google or Amazon.

Just heard Sonam Wangchuk, the man behind SECMOL educational revolution, speaking to young students of Jammu at Jammu University today morning. Being associated with school education as teacher and administrator for more than 50 years, it was a great leaning experience to hear him talk about his educational innovations. This film on SECMOL by HDTV which they seem to have made with immense pleasure and pride gives a perfect insight into the system of education being practiced by Sonam and his team. Hats off to this great innovator! He has inspired me to give shape to my dream of running a similar institution for the children of my remote Churah Valley in district Chamba of Himachal Pradesh.
