Women Take Over Chennai Airport's Air Traffic Control For A Day

Women air traffic controllers in Chennai took charge of the air traffic control tower at the Chennai airport today as part of the International Women's Day celebration, in yet another display of women power and fighting the gender bias. Sharing their experience of this exciting job to NDTV's Sam Daniel, women controllers say they want more women to join this force.

Thank you for this video! My 6 year old (like many of them) is obsessed with airplanes and vehicles. Today he drew man in aircraft control and when i questioned his choice of gender, he said 'India doesnt have female Air traffic control'. I was stunned at his asnwer. I immediately searched on KZfaq and thankfully found this video, showed him and voila, that man in the drawing had long hair (that's another topic of discussion but for some other day). Kudos to all the amazing women and to the people involved in this inspiring initiative!

Unlike a bank / corporate employees, the ATC team does not have any direct public relations with the common man. I feel there is no need for any uniform clothing for them. Let them wear what they want

Doesn't matter, ATC has compulsory transfers every few years for every single employee. So any ATC in India will always have people from all over India. I dont see your point here

The occupants of this ATC should be a bit cleaner. They are Dubai, Australia, Kuwait etc.. How clean and well-behaved they are.. Are they nothing but pot girls.. 😅😅..If there is any problem in the house of those who sit in this ATC, it comes to the ATC and makes a fool of the foreign airlines, our country will have to bow its head. ..

men control 200 aircrafts in one hour....this world just exaggerates things when women do it...even I agree that women are doing good job but we should give the same appreciation and elevation to men also...
