Doing the sound is no problem for me....But I just can't form words with that sound.

I guess you have to practice one alphabet letter at a time until you can do them all. Keep in mind that he is not speaking words in a continuous breath-stream. I think he is pushing out one pulse per letter or syllable and has gotten really fast at re-loading that air-pocket he mentioned near the start.

I have an aunt by marriage who can do a great Donald Duck voice. I've never been able to do it the "official" way, but I've come close just by making my voice more raspy and higher pitched.

Mark Stein wdym? This guys Donald Duck craps all over Brian hull’s. The dude doesn’t even do it the right way! He is probably better at other voices though, like tigger, Winnie the Pooh, Pete-some of his best ones.

Brian hulls isn't the correct sound don't get me wrong I like a lot of his impressions but that one I can tell the difference in him and Donald duck sounds to much like a bad stitch listen to it closely

I mean, Hull's impression of Donald Duck is not bad but you can tell that he is using his vocal cord rather than the traditional air pocket technique when he does it, so I wouldn't say that he is better. He does a perfect impression of Mickey and Goofy though. I myself do a decent Donald Duck voice by the way.

I am so glad I found this!! I typed in "donald duck impressions" and your video is one of the first ones to pop up. My dad taught me how to make duck noises years ago, and I just recently shared with my friends this interesting talent. So you've got the raspy part explained but you're definitely voicing (like with your vocal cords) at the same time, which isn't explained, and I think that's what's causing everyone's confusion.

#DustinKyleEvenson I can make the sound no problem, but I have trouble saying words or even just letters. Do you have any tips, aside from practice which is obvious? Is there anything I might be doing wrong. I can make an air bubble, but I can't seem to keep it while talking.

Try saying ok as a base for words. Force all air out the same side of your mouth as the air pocket. Some sides work better than others. In OK, the O helps form vowel sounds and k helps with some consonants. If you have trouble with certain consonants, for example I have most trouble with c, blend it with other vowels in the word. For example, put downbeat on the A in cAr.

An easier method is to try to do a Gogo Dodo-type voice, only cranked up so high that it sounds all raspy, kinda like the "my precious" guy from LOTR. Something like that is still an acceptable Donald Duck IMO.
