I provide a bikepacker's perspective and independent review of the Near Zero Ultra Light Camping Tent while referencing my experience with the HSR Hubba Hubba. While I test the 3 person tent from Near Zero, most of these comments and criticisms likely apply to the 1 and 2 person tent.

Thank you for the comparison. Just ordered the 2 person NearZero today. Plan to put a piece of thick tape on rain fly where pole hits it.

Hope all is well over there mate. I finally get to try out my new tent next week. No bike trip but a bit of a walk in the bush. Tents with lots of mesh are usually good as far as condensation goes. My tipinova is a shocker for that, especially on damp conditions.

I am a big fan of the Hubba Hubba 2 person tent. I sold mine to my step son because it wasn’t getting much use. I had to borrow it this summer when I went on a trip. I thought maybe I’d buy the Near Zero 2 person because I don’t need it very often and it is quite a bit cheaper. I have a 4 person Walrus tent but it is a little too big and heavy as I normally travel alone.

Agree, it's a good review but the music is way too much (and in my opinion, it would be better without any music at all)

I appreciate the information. I believe you have your spreader bar wrong - it should be on top of the other poles, not the bottom.

Hmm good catch. I was just setting it up quickly in the backyard for filming, but will keep that in the back of my mind for next time I use it.

There are some similarities to the naturehike cloud up2 but for a 1/3rd of the price. It do like however that the zero has a bit more room.

I would love to try the AR700 sometime. I quite enjoyed watching it unfold last year on leaderboard. My spouse and I had a baby back in august so it’s a bit tougher for me to get out these days for a while at a time. Maybe in a few years!

Have you ever tested a Naturehike Mongar? How does it compare?

Hey Bradley, I haven't ever tested this tent but I have heard of that brand before. Usually I have tended to the larger brands because I thought they are more reliable, but this Near Zero tent has me thinking differently now as I've quite impressed with it. Maybe I'll reach out to Naturehike and see if they will send me one to review. Let me know if that is something you'd like to see.

Thanks! Y, that pole hitting the fly is a deal breaker for me... poor design. All those pockets definitely add weight. And 5 pounds ain't bad for a 3-person overall.

Thanks for sharing your thought. I don’t think the pole hitting the fly is a deal breaker for me, but I could see it being for some. I might disagree about the extra pockets adding weight because they are mesh but your point is well taken! Bike safe!
