China has been paying a premium to have empty containers shipped from the United States back to China. This is more than shipping a full container. Cargo ships hauling empty containers can move faster and cheaper than if they are fully loaded. It is a no-brainer for the shipping line to haul those empty containers back across the sea to China so China can fill them back up with cheap products for us here in the US.

Wake up Californians! 20,000 tons of almonds for China. We don't need more almonds. We also don't need to use our water resources so this family can sell almonds to China! Perhaps a few les almond growers wouldn't hurt. More water for everyone
