I've been using the King Bee II for about a week now. In fact, I did a review of it on my channel and compared it to the RE20 (not a very fair comparison). I just purchased it as an Amazon warehouse deal for $107. Everything looked new, but the box was ripped so no big deal. I actually really like the sound of the microphone with the pop filter on - at least with my voice. Great review as always. Thanks!

Whatever it may have become since, Turtle Beach were once the makers of some of the finest PCI Sound Cards on the planet. I used them in radio production for over two decades (interestingly, using Cool Edit, which then BECAME Adobe Audition), and I still use my 30-year old Pentium 486 studio computer, equipped with a Turtle Beach card sporting dual Kurzweil sampling synthesizers onboard for some of the best sounding recording and orchestral midi available in the early 90's... and STILL sounds amazing today! So, yeah, they absolutely DO have a background in professional sound.

I own the KB, and just picked up a used KB for $50 - I love this mic . . . or maybe more importantly it serves my voice well - have not use the KBII yet. Thanks for the review.

I have the lewitt and was able to identify it. I love it. I have a deeper voice so it's perfect for me.

It would've been kinda cool to include a yellow pop filter instead of or in addition to the black... The throwback would have been cool 🙂 KB 2 is less bright to my ears... But maybe I'm wrong... Very nice for the price.

Great review! I'm on the market looking for 2 microphones for a podcast, will these work in a podcast environment with 2 people, or should I go with 2 dynamics? Thank you!

I know this question is kind of old, but for anyone reading this I’d suggest a condenser for most guests. The reason is that not everyone knows how to keep still and speak into the mic, and a condenser will catch more of their voice. I actually use a Worker Bee 2 for my podcast guests, and usually choose a dynamic mic for myself.

Dang, the Worker Bee sounds good in this comparison. I think the original is like $80 if you can still find it, and it comes with the nice packaging and accessories (the mk 2 doesn't come with shock mount or pop filter, unlike the KB 2)

To me both of the Bee mics has the same mids but besides that the mk2 is smoother in the lower end and the OG is alittle more airy in the high end. Both sounds great tho.

Yay, you’re back! Was getting worried. I remember at Fry’s electronics in Garden Drove, CA they had all the Neat mics and even the Neat cable for about $50-$30 each. Didn’t get them because they are fugly. I don’t want something ugly all up in my grill when I’m trying to lay down some sweet metalcore tracks. Very distracting. Neat mics used to be the machine gun Kelly of mics trying way too hard to be cool and different. Turtle beach toned that way down. The plastic box was really cool but was it worth over $100? The mic sounded amazing on acoustic and non distorted electric guitar. It also sounded nice on your voice. Distorted guitar didn’t sound great, no low end. I wonder if anyone that’s a bassist could test this mic with bass? That would be really interesting with this mic, hint hint.

BTW - The last 2 universities I've been employed by both used the Yellowjacket as their mascot - so the black and yellow don't matter to me . . .

I'm disappointed. I miss the old look and the cool packaging. The new ones don't look like bees anymore, which sort defeats the marketing/name.

To me it looks like the bee’s bum bum and the XLR cable is the stinger… however their bums do usually have some yellow on them, aside from carpenter bees. The “Carpenter King Bee” might be a little lengthy name 😂 . Yeah I definitely miss how the old version was such an amazing unboxing experience. The overall theme of the OG King Bee was definitely spot on.

To be honest mine dynamic mic is probably worse at canceling background noise.

@@AudioHotline Superlux D421. Nice sound, but it capture a lot of room noise, so... what's the point? Condenser mics has better quality and are also picking room noise... I also have XM8500, which is better at rejecting.

@@AudioHotline Maybe its gain correlated problem? I use full gain on my cheap interface (Behringer) and 88% in system. With XM8500 I can use 76% in system. I dont know.

@@blackjohnny0 hmmm, that is interesting. Just for clarification, what exactly do you need rejected that it isn’t rejecting? Room noise, keyboard/desk noise, noisy neighbors? It seems like an odd question but it can help me narrow down your expectations and the mics capabilities.
