I have been doing this in a slightly different way. Sl1 k'wise, sl1 p'wise, then knit into back of stitch by inserting left needle through front loops on right needle.

Hi Jo. Slipping the 2nd stitch purlwise is a classic way of making this decrease. When I was testing this method, I realized that when we slip a stitch purlwise and then return it back to the left needle (together with the stitch slipped knitwise) we don't change this stitch. That means that we can simply leave it alone and get the same result while saving ourselves a bit of time :-)

This is how I do it except I knit Russian so it's simply a K2tog thru back loop with the opposite mounted sts .. Sooo easy and pretty

I also knit Russian. Can you help me understand what you mean by the opposite mounted stitches? I’m trying to figure out how to do this for a hat I am making now.

Hi Narges, If you want to form a nice decreasing line on the knit side of the fabric, purl the stitch resulting from this decrease when you work a wrong-side row. Happy knitting :-)
