Although this may be in general terms what it is about, there is a definite clear reference to social media too. I don't think he denied it here, he is talking about the modern world and our current way of living. Which includes that.

If any other band had to have come up with this song it would've been nothing even remotely emotional as this one is to me...definitely one of the best they've come up with...and to know that this probably would've never made the album is scary
