This song is as much for you as it is for them. We, citizens, will never really understand what it's like out there. You can only know that if you've been there. My cousin has been sent to Afghanistan twice and the things he has seen, he still doesn't talk about it today. He is also a veteran. I have the upmost respect for all the People in the military service all over the world 🙏🏼❤️

My father was a forced laborer (slave laborer) in WW2. He worked in Berlin from 1943 to war's end. He made it (partially) a good influence in his life. He survived so much so narrowly, that after the war he lived his life as it was a surprise gift. He did the most funny and crazy things with life (and with me, haha). But.... on the other hand, he refused to talk about WW2 until shortly before he died. And in 1976 (I was 13 at the time) he went back to Berlin. Alone. I wanted to join him, but he would not let me. I asked mum why not and she only said "it has to do with the war". Although he was not a veteran in the strict sense of the word, these people also went through hell. At the end of his life, he told his story to me. It was worse than hell.

I said it on Facebook just a few days ago, about the people in Afghanistan. They get so much shit on them for being a fugitive and come to our country not wanted. People, just go and talk to one of them, or a veteran etc. And ask how they doing, and not the standard how are u, but REALLY ask and show interess in them. Take the time to really know somebody before you judge.
